Roof slashed....gutted * Repaired *

Replacement material is not expensive at all I found, dealer replaced mine when they washed my previous Z's car. From memory was about £170.

Hi pvr thats interesting. is that fully fitted? I thought it wasnt possible to replace the material because of the bonded rear windscreen?

Cheers

The rear wind window is an integral part of the out roof layer.

You cant just replace the window you have to replace the fabric too.

real OEM has it listed at 1500 USD

How close this is to reality.... phone a stealer.

Sounds like a repair is the route if funds are tight.
This really f'ks me off and has been my biggest concern with a rag top although havent had any issues so far.

Apart from some b'stard knocking my wing mirror of.

EDIT: Cross your fingers that PVR's memory is good!

Thanks for the info! I'm moving in the next year and I will be either getting a flat with secure parking or a house with a garage. fed up worrying with the car parked on the street.

No, that is part only for the roof including the glass. I was actually amazed how cheap that actually was.

Fitting is on top of that.

This is quite interesting for a temporary fix, but you'd need to be able to get access to the slash from the inside by the looks of it.

Or if you go the full replacement route make sure you ring around as prices differ dealership to dealership. May even be worth you traveling to get the job done if the price is right.

This sort of mindless vandalism just boils my blood  If I see a nice car parked up, I admire it and aspire to own one like it, not think of ways to damage it  Some peoples brains just aren't wired properly are they :headbang: Hope you get it sorted out.

Thanks pvr I wonder if I could buy the material/roof and get a bmw specialist to fit instead of main dealer prices!

Thanks inkey$ I found that clip when searching for repair info. Not sure how I can get to the back of the slash. Also that clip says the material needs to be laid flat until dried/bonded.

Total scum.

What I woudn't give to have caught them in the act :headbang:

Best of luck - but don't flog it in the heat of the moment.

some people are just sh!ts. hope you find a cost effective repair mate. keeping fingers crossed that the vandals got a bit carried away and cut an artery, bled to death and lifeless body fell in the river never to be seen again!!!

Thats a really pisser mate, I'd feel sick if that was done to mine, Have you thought about a replacement roof off Ebay?

I've seen a few on there for about £500.

Thanks guys. I really do hope the scum bag gets all they deserve!!

I'm going to call a couple of car trimmers tomorrow to see about a repair. If it can be done and is good enough then I will live with the repair for a few months which will give me time to get a replacement roof sorted. It would be great if I could get the material with the bonded screen from bmw then get a trimmer to fit but I've got a feeling that is going to be very expensive.

I'm not sure how pvr got the material/screen so cheap as It looks like its well over 1k. Will starting calling around for solutions tomorrow.

Cheers

What sort of a ©unt would do that?!

I was pissed off earlier because some pr1ck cleaned off my filthy numberplate while I was in Sainsbury's - I would of blown a gasket if my roof had been slashed. Surely someone has the skill to redo the outer without buying a whole new roof?

Hope you find a not too expensive solution.

Some real b###ards out there. Feel for you, had this happen to a MG many years ago. I would try a repair from inside if you can. Might be possible to cut the inner lining to get at the slash??

Unfortunatly we live in a society where Pond life are legally allowed to walk the streets.

Gutted for you, I seriously considered selling after mine was vandalised last year, but so Glad I didn't

Thanks for the comments guys. Reminds me that the decent people out number the scum!

I had a close look at the inner headliner and I think it can be unclipped etc so any good trimmer should be able to get to the inside of the slash so it can be repaired. hopefully I can get a decent job done. I couldn't even eat yesterday, was just sick to my stomache.

Going to call around tomorrow so will post an update when I have one.

Cheers
