Roof motor relocation - calling Number 5

Hi all,

my first post but i have been lurking for sometime and already have you all to thank for getting my AC,rear mister etc working again via the tutorials on using DIS so thanks.

Now, today my roof died half way up. The red ring doesn't do anything (despite much wiggling, jiggling and Fing) so I admit it is dead. Unfortunately i can't DM people (I guess having never posted) so it would be great if anyone that still repairs and relocates the roof motors could say Hi.
I am north London based but can travel, I put Number 5 in the title as i believe you are bristol which isn't too far out of my way on my weekly trips to wiltshire.

But anyone else would also be great.

In return if anyone wants use of DIS especially to get out of transit mode then tap me up. I am happy to do it FOC.

Thanks all

Hi Jamie

Welcome to the forum.
I am in Bristol (BS32) and happy to fix and relocate your motor to the boot, no problem at all.

However, if you're North London, you may find Ross, at RBM a fair bit closer to you. He's just off the M3, in Hook, Hants, and known as (Bowser134 on here) so you fall more into his territory. He does charge a fraction more than me, but I think you'd save that in fuel, plus its nearer in these times of restricted travel.

Either way, I'm more than happy to do it, you'll find us both if you search Z4 Roof motor relocations on Gumtree.

regards,
Alan

We relocate and repair roof motors also as Alan says and based in Hook, Hampshire. We do these as waiting jobs and roughly takes 1.5 hours. Your in safe hands with either of us so whichever is more convenient for you to travel to :)

Thanks guys,

Really appreciate all the quick answers

Oh no, you aren't the same rbm I have been eyeing up louder back boxes on are you?. :-). If so I'll have one of each.

I confess to forcing the roof closed the last foot or so but it didn't have much resistance so I don't think
I damaged much.

Louder back boxes sounds more like one of DLV’s offerings up near the Wirral
And that’s a whole new story you won’t want to explore

I am staying away, i have enough motorbikes to annoy my neighbours :-)

Hi all,

Sorry for hi-jacking this thread. I am in the middle of trying to relocating my roof motor which working. I am having problems as the motor doesn't appear to have tape around it my silicon. I having great problems getting the lid off.

I live in Leamington Spa and I was wondering where is the nearest garage that could do it for me?

Use a long bar to force it between the lid and the body of the motor housing and using a built up pivot point in the boot, lever the whole unit upwards until the plastic tie(s) break and allow it to be pulled up and back into the boot. If you havn't got tape on yours and its held by silcon its a sure sign someone has been in there before. If you manage to lift the lid before the ties break you sould be able to lift the motor up and out.

Just to close my part off, I went to RBM as they were literally 5 mins from a client i had to see and super helpful.
Quick, efficient and did it whilst i waited.

Good result, both for you and the forum's advice.
Did you get it simply fixed or relocated to the boot?
Hopefully now the weather will improve and you can take full advantage of a working roof.
