Roof Motor Relocation: Remove Bowden Cable?

I finally relocated the roof motor and it's so much better now!! One little issue: I think the Bowden cable to release the hydraulics isn't working correctly any longer. Maybe there's a bend or something?

I'm wondering: can I just remove it since if I need to disable the hydraulics, I can just push the button with my fingers?

Another reason I'm considering this: I want to build a little panel to cover the area motor area up, but the Bowden cable is sticking out a little too far for a panel to be flush.

Can I remove this cable without issue?

Yes you can. Another option is to leave the plastic housing and lever in place though. Make a small wedge to hold the lever out off the bypass plunger. If you need to manually operate the roof, swap the wedge over so it holds the lever in instead.

Good idea!!

I may also try to bundle all the lines better so the Bowden cable is more straight.

Also, after working with the cable a bit, I figured out that there bypass button on the motor was badly corroded. Once I cleaned that up, the cable started to work as it should.

There is an adjuster too, to lengthen the cable a bit. Remove the parcel shelf and you will see it on the left hand side mounted on the hoop.
Alternatively, you can leave the housing on the pump and just pull the cable nipple out of its hook, so it releases any pressure off the bypass lever.
