Good morning,
I'm new to the forum, here for some advice on the failure of my roof motor. The other day I lowered the roof and couldn't get it to go back up, lots of whirring and the red lights on the buttons were working. After giving it a breather, it did finally raise, albeit very slowly. I'm now obviously very reluctant to use the roof and am accepting of the knowledge that the motor is on the way out.
I know this is a problem area (my car is a 2006) as the car is now 13 years old and the motor is probably sat in a plastic container of water! I understand there are several options here. Complete motor replacement with possible relocation to the boot and possible repair and relocation. I have been quoted close to £1000 by my local BMW specialist who didn't seem interested or even suggest repair - just replace with a new motor.
What has been everyone else's experience of this? Can anyone recommend a good specialist who can give honest advice on repair/replacement? I'm based in the Midlands near Rugby J18 of the M1. I don't mind travelling a fair distance to save several hundreds of pounds especially if the job can be done in less than a day.
Many thanks for your help in advance!
