Roof Down ?

My philosophy is RORO - Rains Off, Roof’s Off or alternatively Rains On, Roof’s On.

That has always been my policy but I recently changed it.

Something to consider: On 3rd of October last year I set off on my usual 23 mile drive to work at 06.45. It was 3 deg C outside and top was down as usual. Shortly before arriving at work I had a heart attack, fortunately I was close to a hospital and ambulance was with me within 5 minutes. The medical staff advised having my hood down in a 3 deg C ambient didn't do me many favours. In hot and cold temperatures the heart has to work harder to regulate the body temperature, in addition, apparently the blood becomes more viscous at lower temperatures and breathing in cold air is not good either.

Driving with my top down didn't cause my heart attack, Angina was the cause, but it may well have contributed to it happening when it did. It isn't going to stop me driving with my top down, that is why I bought the Z4 in the first place, but I am a little more cautious now. As an aside if you are thinking you are fit and well and it will never happen to you, that is what I thought. I am not overweight, watch what I eat, don't smoke, drink sensibly and am very active walking miles with my dogs every week at pace.

You could die crossing the road or falling over walking along a pathway. That shouldn't stop you doing what you want to do.

Sorry to hear about your health problem, but I bet just before you had your heart attack, you felt absolutely fantastic driving with that roof down

Got my "roro" badge & even if its raining its been known to stay down ,
Personal best timewise for duration was leaving Normandy at 1-30pm this October , landed home n Lancs some 12 hrs & 600 miles later roofdown the whole way :driving: i was tailed by a patrol car for 25 mins through Birmingham around midnight at 2 degrees  eventually pulled alongside me for a closer look then shot off , on a long night drive it certainly keeps you awake
brummie coppers dont like anything unusual - too many bad boys doing bad things, so i would have been surprised if you said he DIDNT pull you over..

Drove 220 miles from surrey back to Devon today, beautiful blue skies, roof off all the way :driving: It is worth noting my pauper spec with no leather seats let alone heated and normal cold steering wheel. Two jumpers, hat scarf and gloves and I was sorted

Pretty damn close bar the hair! Hense the hat for today

Drove back from work yesterday, 3deg. Great with the roof down. Gloves, hat, scarf, heater on full. Heated seats only until engine is warm.
Strange how you don’t see any other convertibles with their roofs down, maybe it’s only the enthusiasts who do RORO.
