roof cleaning

i thried using the auto glymroof cleaner and it seemed to be ok while it was wet but now its dried out it doesnt seem to have done anything to the green mould on seams above the passenger door (right by the window)

does this stuff take a few goes?. tbh i wasnt very impressed with the squirty bottles it cam in either. both sprayers broke when using the sealer/proofer part. they just seemed to get worse at spraying and then stop altogether.

Used autoglym cleaner and sealer too, roof was like new afterwards .Take your time as it's long and boring process.

I've just used Renovo roof restorer as I had a few marks which I wanted to get rid off. Going to seal it with Gtechniq L1

Cleaning the roof with milton fluid should help get rid of the mould :grin:

I have to declare an interest here, as my wife works for the makers of Autoglym! Having said that, I have found AG roof cleaner & protector to be excellent. Doesn't do much for the crease marks from constant folding down - but then again, nor did Renovo either.

I tried the BMW original stuff as well but it didn't do any better and (obviously) I don't pay the same for AG stuff!

Funny thing is that the bodyshop recently resrayed the nose & bonnet and whilst it was there, I asked if they could take a look at the roof and they used an air compressor on it to de-clog the weave and I was gobsmacked at how impressive this was in 'facelifting' the roof. Well impressed!

Different I've not heard of the air line trick before, in reverse using a wet Vax vacuum seems to do a good job of pulling up the fibres with the BMW cleaner but those pesky fold marks soon come back :|

the rest of the roof looks brilliant, i really cant fault it on that front just around the windows and a bit around the where it touched the main bodywork hasnt come off. i did do it a second time around there too. Ill give it another whirl as it could be me not leaving it long enough.

it does say that stuborn stuff may need another go. problem i found was when wet you cant see it so i may have simply missed it.

i would say to autoglym the sprayer on the sealant is woefull. i got 1/3 of the way across the roof before it stopped working. so i switched it with the wash sprayer head and that too only got so far. im guessing that whatever is in the sealant coats the inside of the pump chamber stopping it from working. next time i may put it into one of those bottles you pressurise.

i can see why they say clean it off your screen asap. i could hardly see where i was going before and the washer was useless so at least it works lol

I used standard non bio washing powder mixed with warm water and rubbed the affected areas with small nail brush. Removed the build up of mould in no time

The sprayer on my AG sealer/protector didn't work out the box - I had to decant it into a garden hand sprayer I had lying around :roll:

The only before picture I have is this which shows a cat scratch mark on the top left and a white mark in the centre at the front

Try using a nail brush and leaving the cleaner on for a few mins before rinsing it off. Just a suggestion. It might work.
