That's quite extreme to get a heated rear window to work IMO!AnubisZed said:Charlie, not for an upcoming video, but is a replacement rear shell panel for mine. I buggered the heated window connections when I replaced the loom and hoses a while ago. I came across this full assembly at a great price so couldn't pass it up
This is the second winter without it and its really annoyingPondrew said:That's quite extreme to get a heated rear window to work IMO!AnubisZed said:Charlie, not for an upcoming video, but is a replacement rear shell panel for mine. it's either fogged up or frozen. And like I say a really good price, might even make my money back if I can sell the other parts I don't need
Not sure how common, but this replacement has been repaired at some point (I've checked it for resistance and its fine).flybobbie said:How common are broken demist. Mine has been broken since bought.
Keep meaning to try and fix but the connection on glass has pulled off.
And now clear spot where the black has come off.

Since this happens regularly, ...AnubisZed said:I buggered the heated window connections when I replaced the loom and hoses a while ago.

After several tests on "offline" windows it's now possible to resolder these connectors with about 480-500°C using a 5 mm nozzle on a temperature controlled(!) heat gun.AnubisZed said:I buggered the heated window connections when I replaced the loom and hoses a while ago.
The only prerequisite is, that the rear shell is dismantled and lying reverse on a table.

Oooo interesting, I like that, except my connection tab has broken off the piece that broke offRobbiZ4 said:Since this happens regularly, I have developed a solution to resolder it with a heat gun. ) to swap the glass sections over. The new bumper will still be going to the shop anyway but no point in creating more work than is needed.Do you have a picture of it?AnubisZed said:...except my connection tab has broken off the piece that broke off![]()
Alas, no I don't, but I've just doctored your photo to show it. It's broken along where the blue line is. The broken part is still in the plug end.RobbiZ4 said:Do you have a picture of it?AnubisZed said:...except my connection tab has broken off the piece that broke off![]()

Great ideaRobbiZ4 said:S.hit.
That was broken, when you tried to remove the shell with the connected wire. Well, I know this pitfall.
But you could take a standard connector (in German we say "Steckerzunge" or "Flachzunge", connector tongue or flat tongue) to solder onto the glass. Might be less work than pimping and replacing the complete shell.
