Ronk

I have spent my first ever Christmas in hospital
After my fall in October, I was discharged to a scare home (sic) where ll slid off and suitable chair on my cell - err room!

I ended up rehabilitation hospital where I was lucky enough to catch rather serious chest infection
Along with a deterioration of kidney function

I’m waiting to go to specialist physio therapy hopefully they can get me walking again as you can imagine this is Bin very special time for me

It’s been a cow of a year!

My aim is jusr to be able to walk again although driving again comes close!

Hand controls maybe?

You have had a really rough year Ronk.

But you haven't given up, and I wish you all the very best with your recovery. Hopefully 2025 will be much better.

Let’s hope 2025 brings you more luck Ron. I do admire your grit and determination to get yourself going again after all the setbacks. I’m sure you will be back on your feet before too long.

As above, you are one of the bravest people I have ever known and my hope and best wishes go with you into 2025.

You will be glad to see the back of this year Ronk, you have a great attitude towards working for your recovery and i'm sure 2025 will be a turning point for you.

Still in the game fighting as we all would expect. 2025 must be a better year for you hopefully.

We are all thinking of you so don't give up.

Going through a similar situation with my mum Ron, so can only imagine what you’re going through.
She fell and broke her hip and wrist in October.
2 weeks in hospital and then discharged to a care home.
They had her for a month before deciding they couldn’t cope with her, so managed to find another one .
She then managed to fall again and break the other hip, so hospital again for a few days before being discharged back to the care home where she remains.
Slipped over again the other day hurting her back.
She remains in the care home, with the likelihood of returning home looking way off if at all.
The big difference is your positivity which sadly she struggles with, despite my constant efforts.
She’s 82, and a very difficult lady to deal with.
Can only hope things improve for her.
She’s in a fortunate position of being financially able to be in a decent care home, although you wouldn’t know it if you heard her constantly complaining that she won’t spend her savings, and will go home rather than try to get her recovery to a place where going home is a reasonable option.
The next few weeks will be interesting to say the least.
Stay positive Ron, wish I could instill some of your positivity into her.

I thoroughly understand how she feels I am in a similar position I think I will have to finance my wife’accommodation in a worst case scenario

I use the term scare Homes don’t care and scare me to death!!

We must live with hope!

I should add this. Sounds like you think your mother is old - not from my seat in the house’

I’m possibly getting a wheelchair soon - it should be 70% electrically Assisted the batteries and electric motors in the hub
First, I must learn how to transition from wheelchair to armchar and back again!

I haven’t posted on here for a good while as I sold my last z4 a couple of years back.By the sound of it Ronk your having a rough time of late,,what will help you pull through it is your positive frame of mind.Get well soon.

Tried to retain a positive glass half full attitude but it sometimes very difficult in those dark hours before the dawn

Apart from the ability to walk again, my main object is the carrot on the end of the stick is to drive bye 30 5IS was again.
Hand controls are available for about £500

Sorry to hear this, but hopefully you get better soon. Here's hoping, mate

I’m afraid it’s going to be quiet here for a while. I’ve just had the very bad news, I didn’t want to hear my wife has been told she’s now on palliative care in the hospital staff here are trying to organise Transport for me to go and see her tomorrow.

Tonight is going to be very very difficult time to get through

I’ve shed some tears tonight and I fear there will be more to come in the future unfortunately

The scenario is compounded by the fact I’m also stuck in hospital hopefully Patient Transport can get me across from Darlington to Durham to see her at sometime during the day I’m looking forward to seeing her as you can imagine however I dread your departure however it’s not over till the fat lady sings!

So sorry to hear this, Ron. Thinking of you both.

That’s terrible news, I’m very sorry to hear that. I really hope between hospital transport, family and friends, someone can get you both into the same place.
