Ronk

That is horrible :(

The care home system in the UK is terrible, hope I never have to suffer those.

Not all of them. There are some very, very good ones IME.

Doesn't help Ron at present, though.

Sorry to hear this Ron :(

Not great but hopefully you will receive the care you need to aid recovery. At least you will have time to formulate an escape plan

My mum flatly refused going into a care home, couldn't blame her so ended looking after her on me todd. That was 10 years ago when she passed away. No idea if I could have carried on if still around today.

Funny, I turn 60 next month and the first time I'm thinking I'm getting old and I don't like it

Best wishes,

Tim.

It's much better than the alternative

Was discharged to a scare home and dumped into a chair not suitable and subsequently slipped out of resulting In yet another trip to A&E by ambulance - care staff wanted to lift / drag me back on to bed without a spinal board

Apparently now I’m medically fit enough to be moved back to a scare home once again!
I can’t walk nor stand, but I’m medically fiit

Work that out if you can!

Sounds like your care is lacking a bit.

Hope it improves drastically, as does your health. Can't be easy - sending you all my best wishes.

I would be asking/demanding to be moved to a nursing home not a care home as they obviously don`t have the correct knowledge/equipment for your medical needs .

Don`t be afraid to complain as they will walk all over you if you just accept it .

Who says you are medically fit ? Find out their name Doctor / Consultant and demand to know why they are signing you off as medically fit.

What care package has been put in place considering your situation .

Ask why a care home has been deemed suitable and not a nursing home .

Its very easy to get shoved from here to there especially when you are not fit and I am presuming on medication so ask to speak to the patient liaison manager to assist you and let them know your concerns .

All the best Ronk and Pecker Up

It is difficult to challenge these sorts of decisions when you are unwell and have suffered so many misfortunes like Ron has done. Ron, do you have any family/close friends who can fight your corner for you?

I spoke to Ron last night, or the night before and the big problem is that he has been deemed “no longer in need of medical attention”

Obviously Ron needs a lot of assistance and rehab/physio but they are stating that he can get that in a non medical setting hence the care home rather than nursing home.

Now’s here’s the rub, they’re struggling to get a care home that can cater to Ron’s needs so no bed is currently available, if it wasn’t for bad luck, he’d have no luck!!!!

1536Z4 is right. You have a right to see what care package has been put in place. If you can get your hands on it you can see what decisions were made and by who. That is the first step to challenging those decisions. Once you have that information I would involve your local MP. It is surprising what that can do to your case if you get their support.

After slipping off a very unsuitable chair in my scarehome room unable to move, i ended up atA&E

Now in NHS room at a hospital rehabilitation unit doing physio every day - I have also managed to write again
As I said. I’ve done physio and can now stand with additional support and now I’m looking forward to my stay in ok a specialist spinal unit - I suspect it will be a few weeks stay

To add to the mix Ive got a chest infection currently on 8litres of Oxygen

Tomorrow I’m being fitted for a wheelchair hopefully powered - hopefully this will be temporary

Hey hum - Christmas and Birthday in hospital !

Thats a crap way to spend Xmas Ronk! Hope all the family gather round and keep your spirits up.
Will be sending good vibes your way.
So, any electricians on here who can 'map' your wheelchair?

Oddly I was thinking about you today and wondering how you were getting on. Hoping you will be up and about soon and perhaps someone could put a Z4 badge on the back of your wheelchair. Anyway make the best of Christmas and here's hoping next year will serve you better. :driving:

Think positive, at least your out of the scarehome and being hopefully looked after properly.

I hope you recover quickly Ron, it's no fun in hospital for certain and even worse at special times of the year, I am sure your family will keep you entertained.

Hopefully they can sort this out for you - heated seats and wheels are extra though but at least they haven't welded a roof to it
