Wow, just watched the Stones at Glastonbury on TV here in Portugal.

What a band, they really still have it!

saw them down here at our festival 4years ago along with about 70k people -jaggerdefinitely still has it ! Saw status quo at cardiff last xmas - brilliant - theyare back there again this yearand so will we !!

Not so sure about the Stones... I know you have to be there.. but not to impressed. Time waits for no man or rock band :poke: :poke:

Big fan of the Stones, but gotta say this performance didn't blow me away at all. Loved watching Glastonbury as I do every year. As I type Kenny Rogers has just finished his set and he clearly had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

Highlight for me has been Public Enemy, even without Flavor Flav.

I watched P.I.L. and John Lydon looks like he's been eating all the butter he's been advertising, but he still has that great voice

I wasn't sure about the Stones, I've never been a fan but they put on a good show.

Maybe it's just me but the Rolling Stones at Glasto? I reckon it's lost its way. Mumford & Sons as well and hot on the heels of Jay Z a few years back. It was supposed to be an alternative festival not a mega bucks corporate money-making machine that it is now. All this crap about Hunter wellies and 'glamping' FFS!

I don't see the appeal of the Stones in any shape or form . I cannot stand looking at or listening to them :o
tedious tunes with a godawful voice
& while you got my skin itching the same goes for anything remotely connected to that fake scouse tw4t McCartney !
That guy Chapman definitely picked the wrong beatle :o

Somebody's touchy today..... :D

I don't dislike the Stones but I don't think they belong at Glastonbury. It used to be a festival for bands or acts who had something to say rather than "give me your £200 so I can buy another luxury yacht or pay off my 7th ex-wife". I'm with Mr Wilks on McCartney though. I loathe him with a passion. To quote Ann Widdecombe..."there's something of the night about him"

Not me dr  unfortunately i work with a guy who adores the eagles, the stones & the beatles which is fine by me other than he claims there financial prowess is proof of their talent  when it clearly isn't . its proof of popularity through fame & marketing
Id rather be deaf than suffer a long car journey listening to any of the above
Fleetwood Mac / The Doors or The Who ? That's more me but ultimately music is a personal thing so enjoy the concert

I think the Stones did themselves a diservice at Glastonbury which didn't deserve them and should have stayed away. I liken Glastonbury to the V Festival, primarily for teeny boppers.

Stones like McCartney helped changed the face of popular music forever, its easy to forget and write them off as a bunch of oldies past their prime. Alot of the bands from the 60s will never be surpassed as there is very little pure musical talent these days.

Tim.

Watched the later parts of the Stones performance - was a little disappointed BUT amazing nevertheless after 50 years.

For me the highlight was CHIC! Anyone else enjoy their set?

OK,

Bowing out of this discussion now, it's getting a little silly. Musical taste is a matter if personal opinion and not a basis for argument. I was originally just enthusing over a concert that I enjoyed.

Also references to the murder of John Lennon are in extremely bad taste.

Goodbye.
