Roaster Hardtop ?

I've contemplated so many times about one for mine... As i have the roof up more then down.

Problem would be on a sunny winters day i's be tempted to drop it... But with a hardtop that wouldnt be an option unless removing it first!

I bought one from the BMW Ebay page, I use it quite often. it depends where you store It I guess.

although I wouldn't like to try and take it off on my own, the chance of scratching the boot etc

Storage is easy. Just hang it on the garage wall which is what I do or stand in a rack.
Harder if you don't have floor space though.

I'm not sure about the comments about warping. Can't see how and never heard of one. Several people damage them though due to poor storage and handling.

Price new makes it worth a drive over for UK buyers or holiday road trips to pick one up and resell in the UK

the problem with a used hardtop is that it might be useless.

Why's that?

i am not sure i know the right word but the hardtop seems to warp very easily.

you have to be very careful with it and store it safely.
if the previous owner dropped it even once, it might not fit properly

Thanks for the clarity. I wouldn't have assumed they were that delicate. Good to know.

When I picked mine up, I picked it up with the Z, so fitted it straight away to drive off :-) It wouldn't fit in the boot of my Saab so that was the only option really.

Warping?

Are you sure?

If it was dropped hard enough for it to warp it would have more noticble damage

I had a hard top for my e46 which was a lot bigger than the zed's and you could mount a roof rack on it and I would regularly drive 500+ miles with two surf boards strapped to the roof rack

+1

These hardtops don't warp or distort. If they did flex with poor storage they'd soon settled when fitted and clamped down.

Damage is another thing. All too easy to crack the rear glass or ding a corner with poor handling. See a few on ebay like that
