Roaster Hardtop ?

Ive come across a hardtop that matches my paint.
:headbang:
How many Roadster owners have taken the plunge for the optional hardtop ?
Im thinking it is probably one of those options you can do very well without.
On the surface it would be good for winter use or if you need to park outside and security is a concern.

Opinions are appreciated. The fellow wants $1500 Canadian for it and it includes a cover.
Advertized as 'hardly used' and I think that tells all.

Cheers

Many have them fitted. Of course you can do without them, but that can be said for anything about a 2 seater sports car.

Had mine for 5 years and worth exactly what I paid. It's on every month through the Winter and gives me a second car. They look stylish, protect in bad weather, quieter, secure and removed in 2 minutes.

Price is top end by UK standards, but rarity may increase value in Canada.

Might be worth checking your car has the "hard top prep". I think most do, but best to be sure.

I have one, but hardly used it yet as the nice weather came as soon as I picked it up. Easy to fit, and nice to drive with it on, so I don't think I am going to regret the purchase.

Get a black one stu

Yup. Carbon or ruby black though, not sapphire. Then wrap the bottom of the front and rear bumpers in black gloss or c/f and get some all-black grilles

Al u got a link to the place u got ur black grills? Only ones I can find are 55 quid

Makes me tempted to spray them satin black myself and then use remainder to spray the front lower bumper...

But I agree stu should do as u say

I've got one - protects the fabric from all sorts of nasty salt and gunk in the winter.....

I bought mine with the car (for an additional amount) - and wouldnt be without it

That's cool, I'll keep my grilles. Everything else is perfect Mr T 8)

Woots - I got mine off eBay ages ago, cost about £45... I'll have a poke around my old orders and PM you a link

about a month ago one bmw dealership in munich had 4 new hardtops(all of them were blue) and was giving them away for 800euros.

check for them in the german ebay.
the problem with a used hardtop is that it might be useless.

I don't plan to use the car during winter.... I have a Jeep for that purpose...

I don't see the point of a hardtop (for me).... I had one with my old 3 series cabrio... and it was just a PITA....

I can see the point if the Zed is your only car, and you get the winter wheels and tyres on it... I'm sure it will make it a bit warmer when the cold and snow comes...

I have the hardtop more for the styling, as a bonus it also protects the fabric roof

Is removal a one man job or not? I'm thinking not.

I have certainly fitted mine on and off alone on more than on occasion. Heavy, awkward and tricky to do,and I'm prettry strong. Not recommended.

Easy 2 person, although I rigged up an electric winch that does it in seconds.

Why's that?

i am not sure i know the right word but the hardtop seems to warp very easily.

you have to be very careful with it and store it safely.
if the previous owner dropped it even once, it might not fit properly
