Whenever I have taken the bike I have always taken my passport,licence,copies of logbook,mot and insurance and taken out breakdown cover. Did take a breathalyser to France in 2012 but I think that may have changed.
In 12 years of 3 to 4 times at least through France to Spain and up to Germany I've been stopped twice , once in a Luton van to check for cigarettes and once in a z3m coupe because they were training the gendarme checking , take everything but the piss and you'll be fine !
