Why not call it a radiator ? It does also radiate heat in the exchange process?

Is it another new name us codgers haven't kept up to date with? :rofl:
 
I would have thought a heat exchanger would be better defined as a device to exchange heat in a closed system.
Much like the silver square box mounted on the engine near the oil filter.
A radiator is more open to the elements, using non re-cycled medium, air.
 
A car radiator gets rid of very little thermal energy by radiation, most of it is by heat conduction. Thus technically it’s not a radiator it’s a heat exchanger.
