Thanks srhutch i still can't reply to the message but i am happy with that's so if you can send me an email or someway of getting in touch please

If you make one more post you'll be able to use the Private Messages function - it only works once you've made 3 posts.

Just about to do this after buying the cruise control stalk from eBay, but photos are not available ... is it possible to re-upload them?
Thanks

Hi all

I have just tried to retrofit to my Z4 2007 2.0, which I believe is N46 engine. I purchased a new stalk and wiring kit from 2 different sellers on eBay. Both are genuine BMW items. I have completed all the wiring except for the connection to the DME, as the BMW instructions don't add up.
It states for N46 or N52 engine 'Disconnect and open plug X60002, black 26-pin, from the DME control unit' 'Connect the Blue cable (from switch) to plug X60002 PIN4'. This is where my confusion starts, both plugs are 26-pin, the Black one has an existing White/Blue wire already in PIN4.
I can see that these BMW instructions were released 10/2006 and I'm guessing that there has been a change after this date, but I cannot find any later releases of these instructions.

Does anyone have any knowledge as to where I connect this wire?

Thanks

Here is an extract from srhutch’s magic instructions:
N46
Just an update on this old thread from someone who has just fitted this retrofit CC kit to a 2.0
(N46), E85, 2008 version of the Z4. All went as planned until I came to join the DME wire. I
attached the blue "repair cable" as per the BMW instructions (which was indeed the correct one
for this vehicle). However, I then removed the black 26 pin plug from the DME to find that there
was already a wire in pin number 4 (this is the pin that the BMW instructions say to connect to).
There was no mention of this fact in any of the instructions so I spent the next few hours
hunting the net for more details with no luck. I then noticed that on the first page of the BMW
instructions it does say that "if any pin chambers are already used, to use double crimps or twin
terminals". I also checked the wiring diagram for this connector which simply says that pin 4 is
for the cruise control (only). So I removed the wire already there and connected the new (blue)
wire to pin 4 in its place (and left the other loose for now). All seems to be working perfectly .
The CC is working as it should and I have no other errors or problems I can see at present. I
have left the original pin 4 wire loose for now (safely). If anyone knows what this "spare" wire
does please let me know. I hope this helps to make the job a little easier for someone else with
a 2.0l version.

So, just take out the existing wire from pin 4 and put the new wire in.

Hi I’m just in the process of purchasing a 2007 2.0l sport and am very interested in fitting cruise control. I’ve clicked on a few links but they don’t appear to work any more. Is there a more recent page than this one (apologies still getting to grips with the search engine) :D

Hey all,

I recently bought a BMW Z4 3.0 2005 with the m54 engine and tried to install cruise control on it. I followed a instruction manual, that I found somewhere. I would add the pdf, but I don't know how that works on this site😅.

what the instructions describ is:
To connect 2 wires to the light switch on pin 27 and 31,
And the last wire should go to the contact x6004 pin 27.

I did all that and the car has been programmed for the cruise control option, but is still does not work.
Did I forget something or are the instructions incorrect?

Edit:
Turns out I can't count, and put the pin in the wrong place. Corected my mistake and it is working now🥳.

Welcome to the forum.

The pre-facelift E85 is already wired for cruise control. The cruise control stalk (assuming OEM or equivalent) should be plug-and-play. All you need to do is make a cut out in the lower steering cowl (already marked on the inside) and plug it in.

I did this last week and it was so easy. Thankfully I have an '03 and so was wired for it from factory. I find the stalk not very intuitive though compared to our Skodas.

Hi everyone! New to the forum, but already found it helpful! I have installed the stalk in my 2003 2.5i Z4 and it works! It came 146€ from Germany (I'm italian) and I just need to trim the plastic bit out.
Bye for now and thanks for the tutorial!

I’m interested in fitting cruise control to my 2006 ‘facelift’ Z4 2.5. Most of the links I’ve clicked on don’t work any more, could anyone help me out with a link or an idiots guide? 😊
Thanks
Wayne

Hi, I did it some months ago, do you need info for assembly or buying the part?
Hi 😊
A bit of both really? I’ve read that on a ‘post 2004’ Z4 like mine that I also need to purchase a wiring loom? I’m looking for the part number for the stalk and the loom that I require? Also to find out if it’s basically still ‘plug and play’ on my model as well?
Thanks 😊

Yes you will need to get the wires. Or you can get the connections from a broken car. That is what i did. As for the links I can e- mail them to you. (I don't get how to upload pdf on this form)

You can plug it in. But you will need to program the computer to crusecontrol "yes".

You need to buy a cruise control stalk and a loom. You can sometimes find a new stalk (try your dealer) for not much more than a second hand one which are typically £75-£100. You can get a loom from a breaker or get one from BMW. The go-to option was always to get a custom loom from [ref]srhutch[/ref], although I don’t know if he is still active on here. The srhutch looms are simpler to wire up, very reasonably priced and come with a full set of instruction. Fitting cruise control to my ‘57 plate coupe did not need any programming, it was plug and play.

If anyone is umming and ahhing about doing this; I recommend that you JFDI! :)

When I got my 2005 E85 I was hoping that it had all of the magic extras like CC and Heated Seats already wired but it appears the cutoff for pre wired cars is October 04 and my build date is March 05. So much to my disappointment all the upgrades are not plug and play so I have literally been sitting on this for 5 years because I was too scared.

Today I got the courage to install the kit and it took about 1 hour and was super easy barley an inconvenience.

Onto the Photos for anyone that has a 2005 Pre facelift M54 that needs Cruise Control

Cut the loom as per the instructions and splice in the two cables to the LCM connector

Fish the cable across and into the engine bay. (Im using a spare bit of Cat5 as a draw wire to pull it through. )

I have a 2005 2.2l and ordered the stalk from BMW. Unfortunately when trying to install it, I noticed the plug is white and has pins not holes. I don’t see any other plug hanging around so I assume I do not have the cabling and the easy plug-and-play option will not work. Anyone know what the white connector is for?
