You could well be right, of course.

After 50,000 miles on Pirelli P Zeros, I know that BMW's recommended pressures, which many people consider high, suit them well, both in terms of performance and durability.

I omitted quite an important detail. The fronts are still The Uniroyal Rainsports 3 whereas the rears are Goodyear F1 Asy. The RS3 definitely need a bit of extra pressure to stop them feeling floppy whereas the F1s don’t need to be so high. When I get F1s (or MPS4) on the fronts I’ll be able to drop them to a reasonable level too, hopefully closer to about 34psi.
