Replacement rear windscreen ??

Apologies if this has been covered but I`ve tried various searches.

I noticed while cleaning the car yesterday one of the heater elements is burned out on my rear screen, its covered with an AUC warranty, so not a problem but is the screen replaceable or will it need a whole roof ?

Whole roof cover needs replacing, be interesting to see if BMW will do it or not, they may have a way of fixing the element.

I had the sam problem with my Lexus RX under warranty. Lexus put it down to user fault as it is stuck on the glass not inside it.

Taking it in tomorrow for them to look at it, will report back.

My dealer replaced roof when mine didnt work...but it was them that pulled off the sticker that broke the line (at my request though!!)

Not looking good, it's taken an hour of arguing the toss and phone calls to customer services just to ge them to do a proper written report to submit to the warranty company.

Update
My local dealer refused to do it under warranty incase BMW refused the claim and they were left to foot the bill. So I dropped it backat the supplying dealer this morning and should have it back later this week with a nice new roof, glad I hadn't bothered cleaning and waterproofing the old one now.

Not sure what year you Zed is BUT if its an early one why not replace the motor at the same time as a precautionary measure - will be at your cost but 80% of the labour will be done in any event.
