I need to replace my outer rear ball joints on the M

Is it best to replace with ‘oem’ style rubber (lemforder etc) or easier to polybush? When I did the RTAB on a previous car it was much easier to install polys?

Any tips when replacing? The guides I’ve read look simple but I’ve read that the brake backing plate needs moving to get properly to the area?

If it's the ball joints in the trailing arm next to the hub), then you want to replace with lemforder (or BMW) ball joints. Poly would be a downgrade here. Removing them is pretty easy if you have the right puller, they are readily available on ebay (something like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256724279778)

The only problem you might come up against is the eccentric bolt on the lower control arm just loves to seize in the joint, which makes removal a much bigger job.
