Went to do these today

Started on the near side (worst) ones following the pelican parts guide.

https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/BMW_Z4M/138-SUSPEN-Rear_Wheel_Carrier_Ball_Joint_Bushing_Replacement/138-SUSPEN-Rear_Wheel_Carrier_Ball_Joint_Bushing_Replacement.htm

All went well until… the bolt securing the bush and the lower arm would not come out

I think the shoulder on the new bolt shows what has seized in the old bush which was just tuning.

I tried to drive it out using brute force (4lb lump hammer) and heat but neither worked

Any suggestions?

I think that needs a few good penetrating oil sprays, then try tightening a fraction before undoing. You are probably going to need an extension bar as well on that

I popped the bolt back on the other side, with an impact socket was able to belt it with the lump hammer but it just wouldn’t come out

I think I probably need to get more brutal with it to get it moving and not worry as I have new bolts/nuts and bush

[ref]bigwinn[/ref], when you say drive it out with a hammer, that suggests you must have got the nut off that end? If so, are you saying the bolt still won't rotate in the bush? no point applying too much heat or the metal sleeve in the bush will become unbonded from the rubber and the whole thing will just spin.
What's the inner end like? Is it time for a pair of adjustable arms instead?
Meaning you could destroy the arm if needed.

Yep the nut comes off ok, however the bolt just spins in the bush

Several have suggested to use adjustable lower arms as a replacement so may consider that
