Out of interest, were any other makes and models in the running when you picked this? I'm curious to know what you compared it to.

Others I investigated were the boxster 987 , the 911(997) and the E89 3.5i(s).
I was a little edgy about the 987 as you can’t see the engine and didn’t want a 997 convertible so would have to have had a coupe. The SLK55 ticks s lot of boxes for me as it’s quick when you want , it can cruise if you want . The build is very good so far with more compliant suspension and you seem to get less buffeting than an E85. Oh and the noise it makes is something else

Looks good - I can understand the appeal of an AMG model for the soundtrack alone!

I've had a lot experience of these - my dad had one for 4 years which i often drove. I chased him around France over two weeks, at the time in my Z3M. It sounded mega, looked really cool and actually i liked it a-lot. With the Z3M in the right power range there was next to no difference in acceleration though.

It wasn't the finished article in driver experiencee and the gearbox had its limits which is ultimately why he changed it for a 981S Boxster but it was a great car that got a lot of attention and the engine more than made up for it.

I approve!
