Removing strut top locator pins?

I took my pins out last week and maxed the Camber, I recommend this 1000%

The pins just push in. Just get the key in and put some effort in, you won't break it.

When you say they just push in, this is categorically not how mine are (M if that makes a difference?). They are situated on top of the top mounts, so need to be unscrewed and removed in an upwards motion...

Don't think it's a true thread though. Think molegrips are your best bet.

it looked like a very rough self tapper.

I actually kept mine in the tool box so I can put them back in the right place when I put the new shocks on.
I only took them off to fit the M3 strut brace.

I'll grab a pic of the removed pins when I get home on Friday unless someone else beats me to it!

Sorry to quote again, but how did you remove yours, Steve? Allen key?

Sorry missed this.

I just unwound them with an allen key.
Both my top mounts are new, so the pins wont have been in as long as if you were on original mounts!

Before a 4 wheel alignment at the weekend, I want to remove my locator pins, just in case (rather me do it than the garage as I have info to hand aka the forum!!). I had a look last night and got the correct allen key, but the things just wouldn't budge. I stopped before rounding the hole off as I'd like to make sure I can refit if necessary...

Any advice? Are they just very stiff after 60k+ miles?

As an aside, I've just realised, aren't you Terry's friend that I met at his second wedding???

Thankfully that crisis has been avoided. I put it up for sale a few months back on here, but removed the advert as my father is effectively buying it off me, but I will continue to have it on my drive/service it/look after it.
