Removing CDV from an ///M, does it make any difference?

bloody right it does :D

Had mine removed today during its inspection 2. Brake fluid was also changed so they bled the clutch as well so new fluids all through as normally the clutch fluid does not get changed.

Anyway pulling away now is way easier to control, and the change from first to second is much better.

So don't know where PVR got his info from, but on my car it's made a huge difference and very glad I had it removed.

My info was based on the M where I took the CDV off :P

Drove it before, drove it afterwards - nothing in it.

Must be because yours was rubbish and full of air

Trust you to respond first

I was half expecting it to make no difference, but very glad I have done it.

Perhaps you didn't bleed the one you did. Wasn't your car so you wouldn't have been fussed :poke:

Walkers Autotech over near Billingshurst. Been researching over a couple of years and had shortlisted Bartley in Southampton and the place near Brands, ETA. Both a pita to get to/from though with an inspection 2. ML I'm still unsure of as they have a mixed reputation. I contacted the members on here that used Walkers and they all came back good. I would recommend them certainly if your looking and Andy Walker is the owner and also gets his hands dirty.

Glad that you were pleased with Walkers Autotech - always a bit concerned when I've recommended something in case you thought them crap!

Would appreciates knowing to what they charged you so I know how much to save for my upcoming Inspection 2.

Thanks

It was less than a year old M, so still nice and tight and all working fine. Not a 9 year old banger where it is all a bit sloppy

I hate to say this!! It's not just you M guys where it makes a difference!!

Good mod though makes driving a z4 much better :)

It made a huge difference on the 2.5 and the 3.0 (mine) which I did, just nothing on the M. They were all new cars though (i.e. up to 2 years).

MM we all know it makes a difference on non ///M's, but it's always been contentious on ///M's which is why I have posted up my findings.

I know I have had a few strong spring ciders!!

Really dose make a difference. What I found though.... After a week maybe less if you dive you car more than me. You will forget how bad it was before. Thus forgetting how good a mod it is...

You might be right, makes we want to get rid on the one on my DD as well.

So the question is was a modified valve used or was it completely removed. I've just removed mine (kept it though just in case), might make no difference but it's interesting to see that this isn't a black and white issue.

I'm going to have mine removed

(Especially as it's 8 years old and probably knackered :P )
