Removing Trim

Does anyone know how to (or if it's possible) to remove just the grey trim that's sits within the lower left and right grills on an 35i.

I have some black grills that I want to try but I think I will need to remove those other grey bits or it will look silly. Don't want to damage them in case I decide I prefer the grey grills.

It’s pop clicked into the rear black mesh grills..it’s easy to pop off if you take the bumper off..but..some folks have just pulled them off the front…but some people now have holes where there shouldn’t be..
