It's academic really, unless there is a turbo involved remaps are pointless and expensive and I'm in agreement with the funny talking man :lol: where is your backbone.. No way would I tell any insurance company I had changed wheels or remapped or any other nonsense, the more they know the more they charge and make up stuff. Pandering to the bullshit makes it worse.
Yes, wouldn't bother telling insurance about a remap.
A few years back, had a pickup that had been remapped, de-cat, ERG delete. Had a bang, declared a total loss and I got a very good payout for it with no mention about any mods.
I would probably declare on something more expensive or turbos that are well known to be modded but, certainly wouldn't bother with the Z.

Firstly I would say posting in a public domain either advocating or admitting to not declaring modifications on your car is foolish in the extreme.
Secondly - if you are involved in a fatal road accident, they will impound your car and if modified (or even if not) they absolutely will go through it with a find toothcomb including a full interrogation the ecu for changes that would result in potential factors affecting the build up to a collision or the outcome of the collision - ie. Speed caused by power increase not declared.....
If an insurance company is looking at a massive third party liability claim as a result from a death deemed your fault they will do everything they possibly can to avoid paying out - would you want to be I that situation - not only dealing with the emotional element of having been involved in a fatal accident, but then deemed to be liable for millions becusee you didn't pay an extra tenner a year to declare a map? Your choice, but I sincerely hope the above causes you to think twice.

The sentiment is all good and correct but a bit of creative licence just there. In fact 3rd party liability is one area that would not be under threat (Insurance companies are legally bound to pay it). The problems arise when you try to claim for losses under fully comprehensive. It’s receiving anything from them for the loss of your own car which would be in doubt.
i rather think its you that are being foolish.. did i SAY i had any modifications, as this discussion is about the benefits of a remap, and i have already stated i think a remap would be pointless, what do you feel is the likelihood that i have one ?
