*reduced* intravee II + Alpine KCA-420i

Leads included, as shown in the photo. No packaging (it really wasn't anything to shout about!) but will be sent securely, obviously. :)

Are the leads that are shown all the leads that it would come with from new? Is anything missing?

Why do we get into these debates  Spud has put it on for a price he reasonably expects (and will not doubt negotiate). If someone wants it for this price they will buy it if not he has the E Bay option!
Hope you sell it Spud

This is very true AlanJ, Spud did put a price up that he reasonably expected, and there was nothing wrong with that. However I don't think there was anything wrong with other forum members pointing out that the original asking price was a bit in the steep side and gave their justifications as to why that was. In fact I think that's what makes the forum a good place to purchase things as there is an element of trust. Here are some previous examples of friendly advice being offered by forum members regarding pricing

Could be interested in these if the price drops. You'll see another thread where someone sold theirs for £400 in the last day or so, similar age/condition. If you're not interested in a drop and wish to hold out, then good luck anyway.

Hugely overpriced. I sold my 3 litre SE with lots of options, Z4M wheels, perfect history, etc. for £7400 recently.
Spud said:
You're still way overpriced.
Spud said:
Rather optimistic with that price tag, I think.
Spud said:
Take this as friendly advice, but that's hugely overpriced. You'd get a similar mileage 3.0i with decent options for pretty much 11k. I realise you'll probably take offers, but you're still way too high there.
Spud said:
You've got absolutley no chance of getting 12k for it.
Spud said:
Tyres with 10k miles on them? You'll be lucky if anyone takes them for free, fella.

As we can see there's nothing wrong with offering advice on a for sale thread is there Spud

I think It'd be a sad state of affairs of a forum member couldn't give help and or advice on pricing (especially when it is justified). I hope this doesn't change!

Anyway, back on topic, good luck with the sale Spud. I'll continue to watch this thread as I'm actually interest in purchasing this if the price is right!
Is that supposed to embarrass me, or something? Each of those, bar the tyres one, is helping someone to sell a car, not someone selling as new accessories. In one case I pointed out how my own car (previous 3.0i) had been sold hugely cheaper, and I currently have my own Z4MC for sale - listed at the cheapest price in the country (with nav) according to PH. So, with a track record of offering items of £7k-£14k at cheapest prices available, to suggest I'm being selfish with pricing on a relatively cheap accessory is, frankly, ludicrous. And to compare the sale of tyres with 10k miles (when they could well be virtually worn out) with some electronics which is in the exact same working condition as it would be when compared with new items is, again, nonsense.

It includes everything, so far as I'm aware (I didn't install it originally - I paid an auto electrics place to do it). Perhaps someone who also has the kit could confirm with reference to my pic?

I read something somewhere once about someone using a USB/serial lead, but I've never needed that. If you did, there's one on amazon for a couple of quid - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Highlight-adapter-converter-connect-printer/dp/B000L0UDQA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1378641471&sr=8-4&keywords=usb+serial

Everything you need to operate it is there but you will need a USB to serial port lead for firmware updates.

It will charge the iPod but depending on whether the Alpine unit has been modified to wake it up, the iPod will go to sleep and may need manually waking up by pressing a button after a period of inactivity.

Be careful which USB lead you buy, some don't work. Intravention recommended one with the FTDI chipset for reliable operation IIRC.

I bought this serial lead on Stuart's recommendation

Only thing I would add is that mine came with an adapter for my iPhone 4S to provide charging. At some point Apple changed the voltage on their chargers I think ? Anyway, not sure if this applies to iPods of newer generations ? If you have the iPod above you should be fine, but hopefully Spud / Stuart / Perry can advise...

My last gen iPod classic 160 is fine, my iPhone 4S (now sadly gone) needed a charge adapter. I'm not 100% convinced of the quality of the charge adapter I got from toysinyourcar, I got some flaky behaviour from my phone when using it.

Mine came with the kit I bought, but I remember checking the brand and it seemed not no be on sale anymore. Works fine for my phone, sadly not much help if you can't get it anymore.

I'll be getting an iPhone 5s when they come out (and after the fanbois have finished pillaging the stores) so will need a new adapter anyway.

Quite an interesting read I read all four pages
Rookie I know you're making a point but I think you went overboard

It can be even simpler than that (although not if you're using an iPhone) - my iPod is dedicated to the car and lives in the boot. It's in a clear case and the case is attached to the top of the battery, to update the iPod, I just open the case and take it indoors. Leads, including the Intravee serial/USB lead, are routed along the base of the bulkhead and down the right-hand edge of the boot into the battery well (see yellow cable ties). All works out very neat and, once the battery cover is on, completely invisible.

Ipod in the boot is how I would like to set it up. Does the intravee continue to charge the ipod when the car is not being used? If so does that present any issues for the car battery?
The iPod goes to sleep, and so does the Intravee, once this happens the iPod stops charging. If left long enough, the iPod will be flat - this would normally stop the KCA-420i from charging the iPod as it waits for the iPod to wake up before providing a charging current, but there's a single-wire mod for the KCA-420i that allows it to charge a completely flat iPod.

With my switch to Android and Google music I haven't used my ipod for a few years. If the ipod switches off, and it's in the boot would I need to manually turn it on or does it spring into life when I turn the car on? I Will always use it atleast once a week.
Is the any threads regarding the single wire mod for the KCA-420i?

The iPod wakes up with the car - the only exception was that the iPod didn't wake up if it was completely flat but the mod takes care of that

Single-wire mod details here

Apologies for the off-topicness but can anyone point me to a thread that shows how this setup can control the ipod? Ie how easy it is to search for artists/tracks on a non MFSW E85?

The Intravee user guide should show you everything

The guide assumes that everyone has Nav, mine is the standard business radio and I wanted a bit more insight into how easy it is to browse artists, albums and tracks.
