Red Sports seats Ebay

Just wondering, would there have been any problem fitting these into my 2.5i (pre-facelift) convertible? As these are coupe seats, would I just need to have two holes cut for the roof operation buttons?

They use the same control panel - assuming they are the same in terms of heated or not. All you would need to do is swap the occupancy sensor over, it is a fiddle, mostly getting the seat covers off.

As for the price discussion, no way I'd have paid anywhere near that, but anything is worth as much as the highest bidder is willing to pay or the minimum price the seller is willing to accept. So that's the market price. A lot of time it's down to luck as to who's looking / bidding and what they'll pay.

As for the seller binning the "Buy It Now" once interest picked up, I'd have done that - the seller doesn't owe annonymous eBay users anything, get the most out of it - helps pay for eBay purchases that don't work out.

Pawn,

question about the heating retrofit for the seats, I know (read your great post) that there isn't one out there for Sport Seats :headbang: what does that bolster kit do? how does that even work? with the same center console switches? and by any chance, you wouldn't have the instructions on how to fit them, do you?

navid.v, sorry, I'd posted a response earlier, but seems it didn't stick :x

So...
The bolster kit has 4 pads that fit under the bolsters with two cables each to the seat and backrest set. These, so far as I can tell, plug into each other and also the main heated seats set. Looking at the setup for these there is a temperature sensor in the backrest pads, I assume this is used to regulate the temperature, rather than simply being a safety override. Therefore I don't think the bolster set would work on its own even if you got the cable to run to the main connection block under the seat.

I don't have any instructions, I don't think, apart from the faff of removing the seat covers, they'd be plug and play.

I was looking at aftermarket heating pads, with a view to connecting them to the BMW switch - got to the point where I was going to contact a few of the manufacturers to see if they had temperature sensors and if so how they worked and what power increments the pads used... it was about that time I realised I was doing this for the sake of seeing if it could be done, rather than for something I desperately wanted. Even when driving through snow with the roof down I've never felt like I've needed to stop due to the cold.

thanks for the info, as far as I have been told, the only way to get them heated oem way,is to buy new seat covers as they have the heating pads on them! I did have heated seats on the original seats and they were good and handy, specially I did my back and the heating helped alot :P

have to disagree as I did even contact the seller and he even said he took it off  due to amount of offers he had.

this was the original listing:

Fair play then... £600 is pretty cheap esp with eBay fees on top. I also agree that the end price isnt too bad... how much would this be as an upgrade new from the factory?

£650 option for m-sports.

But I doubt they actually cost that much more than standard seats. They are made in the same factory. They are just different.

In my view they should have been an optional thing, like paint colour. Some people may prefer the standard seats, but I think many people under-rated the original Z4's because of the seats. Just like the RFT tyres.

Move from RFT/standard seats to non-rft and m-sports, and the car is transformed.

Makes you realise that despite it being a BMW, and an ultimate driving machine, BMW still get core things really wrong as standard imo!
