Recaro Poles... Talk to me.

Beware the new MOT regs - out next year. Worth reading up on these to see what it says about removing air bags etc from an original fit. Weight saving by putting different seats in ......... so how much bhp will you gain over the cost of the new seats? :poke:

well you can get very good bucket for £600. I remember Beedub saying his M seats were around 45kg each. thats -90kg and add 14 for buckets + 6 for fittings. Thats a 70kg saving for £1200-ish! even if its only 50kg sdaving, try doing that with CF bodywork

How much weight would you save if you replaced all panels with CF?

Can't bear thinking about the cost! :o

There is a post on here somewhere but from memory its £20k for less than 100kg

No airbags will be removed/disabled. Surely you understand the benefit of a lighter car? :tumbleweed:

Its all about power to weight ratio as any Caterham R300/400/500 driver will testify :D

Would be interesting to see how a "superlight" Z4 performs vs a SC one...

I think you can expect to save around 25 - 30KG over the stock (I have heated/electric) M seats. Couple this with the wheels, lighter battery, lighter brakes, (soon to be hopefully) lighter exhaust and a featherweight driver and I'm hoping for a decent overall reduction

Playalistic - i've pretty much had all the above done to my car - a decent diet programme does really make a difference. Lighter wheels IMO make a huge difference :driving: in acceleration especially rolling starts from say 30mph.. gives turbo boys something to think about...

BTW my car is at Simpson's at the mo so you can have a look at how my harness and seats were fitted by another BM specialist. I'd be keen to see how they go about doing yours as there are aspects of what was done on mine that I'd change if i had the chance.

Hope everything goes well, let me know when your next on track really itching for a track day now as i've only done 1 TD and 1ring tripthis year.

What's yours in for at the mo then Rich? I'll have a look over it but remind me, have you got a half-cage or harness bar? I'm limited in my options (thanks to the lack of a C-pillar) with harnesses. But there was an Alpina that had some pretty epic mods on here that is at least some inspiration for fitting harnesses: http://modgarage.net/project/alpina/modification/28/schroth-asm-autocontrol-iii-safety-harness/

I'm definitely up for a trackday within the next month so I'll be in touch

No cage in mine, harnesses are just as Cheburator mentions above.

I'm having a few things done: Geo set up, RS29 pads all round, front shock service and rear spring rate change.

BTW - anyone now a place that uses nitrogen instead of air for tyre pressures?? I know a place in Surbiton/Kingston that used to do it years ago but no where else....

After seeing this thread and then this... I was thinking whether it would be possible to fit bucket seats and keep the electric seat motor?

Peddy, those are utterly stunning - what exactly are they?

Fixed back position though :(

awesome setup by femme.... that must have cost a fortune to do it to that standard........ awesome work......

i wish he was around to help us understand mounting points ect ect

Anyone got a clue about my seat motor question? If I can keep electric seats then I'm gonna definitely go for it as it'll be cheaper than getting 2nd hand M seats.
