Recall: Vanos Adjuster (2011 SDrive 30i)

Mines a 2010 3.0 n52 no recall yet and nothing on dvla or bmw site of a recall

How can you find out if this has already been done?

Looks like a patch of bad bolts or someone didn't check the torque wrench setting.

I've booked mine in for the 28th at Group1 (formally Chandlers BMW). No issues getting it booked.

that’s interesting, did seem to be a 2.5 (23i) issue, clearly it’s fickle

Here's a thing. I haven't received any notice of recall. Yet when I took my 2011 3.0i in today for a service they immediately said it was due a recall. they now have the car overnight. so, do check and don't wait for notification....

I have rung two BMW garages and both say mine isn't due a recall unfortunately

No recall on my 2012 28i, sounds like it might take care of the small oil leak that just showed up on the service too :x

It’s all gone quiet, I swear the letter said ‘we will be in touch again in August’ and it’s now September. We shall see. Anyone else had motive yet to bring their car in?

No recall on my 2012 28i, sounds like it might take care of the small oil leak that just showed up on the service too :x

That's because it is for the N52 6 cylinder engines, not the 4 pots

Just ring your garage. That's what I did and then booked me in for that week. Don't wait for them to contact you, get on their case

Few posts about 23is being recalled in the thread so it looks like it’s both

The 23i is a 2.5l version of the 6 cylinder N52. The 30i is a 3.0l version of the N52. Both are affected by the recall
The 18i, 20i and 28i are the N20 4 cylinder engine. None are affected by the recall
The 35i/35iS are N54 twin turbo 3.0l straight six, also not affected by the recall

Oops, thanks for the education, I always thought that the 23i was another variant of the N20.

Update (it’s now tomorrow) letter arrived today. Booked in for 3 October with a polite request to NOT wash my car!

Unless it’s raining. Then I might just have to postpone it!

Yeah got my letter on Friday as well, booked it in straight away. The service guy said it was a first for him as he hadn't heard of it yet. But no issue, all booked and sorted, oh and instead of the usual Mini loaner I'm getting a new 5 Series for a couple of days :driving:
