 They can try all they like, but I won't be buying one as I've got some other nice motors on my radar 8)

Mine was booked in today. Had the confirmation calls/emails/text messages… Dropped it off. Less than an hour later we get a call to say not all the parts are in, and can’t be certain when they will be, so could I collect it again. 🤦🏻 am I allowed to swear on here???

The recall seems a bit of a shambles. Mine was booked in for last week, despite dropping the car off at 8:00 I got a call mid afternoon to say when the technician had picked the parts off the shelve he found an issue with the gasket. At that stage, I was told it might take them 7 days to get the replacement part from BMW Germany, so car was booked in for today. Received a call yesterday to say the gasket is still unavailable and they will call me when they have all of the parts :(

Suspect this could be a long wait. Which is annoying as I suspect if the bolts come undone and cause serious engine damage BMW would deny responsibility. Despite have a string of BMW's over the last 35 years and having two BMW's at the moment I'm losing patience with the Brand and Sytner's

Had my recall appointment cancelled last week due to a quoted worldwide shortage of the required parts. I got a call back from Sytner yesterday to say the necessary parts are now back in stock - so mines booked in for the 31st which was their next available appointment

that’s crazy. World-wide shortage?!? And the soonest they have available is a month??

‘Shambles’ is a fitting comment… wrote to Group1 yesterday asking for an update. Was hoping to SORN at end of the month, so that won’t happen will it?! Also wrote to BMW UK to express my frustration. May ‘24 they wrote saying the recall was required.

Group 1 is the only dealer around near me and ‘shambles’ is an apt description for the whole lot!

Have just dropped off my other BMW for the vanos work and only now are Group 1 telling me that the job is so big that it takes them two days so I’ll be without my daily for the weekend. Z4 was done while with them for roof related issues and can’t now remember what happened (it was a couple of months ago - 🤣).

I guess we sit and wait… it’s survived 14 years without issue… not had a response to my email though. Not even a ‘thank you, please wait’

Just booked mine in again for the recall. First available spot was 18/11/2024, so a month away. Apparently they currently have parts, hopefully they will still be available when mine goes in !

I’ve had a response from a nice person at BMW UK, which I’m grateful for:

“Thanks for your recent contact to BMW Customer Services - I'm sorry to hear that the recall work hasn't been carried out - I can understand your concern.

“The BMW Group is working hard to secure the necessary replacement parts. Customers in the UK will be informed about the recall via a letter to the registered keeper and they will receive a second communication as soon as the spare part is available for their vehicle.“

Hope this helps others on here.

Mine was booked in for two days as of this coming Monday. Just had a call to say parts are on back order.

As I work away and was on leave, they have agreed a full week with a loan car to do Saturday to Saturday to help accommodate me. Fair enough

Our 2010 23i being done today. Almost a year since the first notice was received. Got a courtesy laptop-on-wheels from BMW whilst the magic happens. It’s great to know that a 15 year old car is still seen as important to them.

Got mine done this February by BMW Williams branch… They had it for a week as they didn’t have the parts in for some reason despite me booking it weeks before. If you book it make sure they have the parts ready!

Only good bit was the free breakfast…
