Rear tyres

I need to change my tyres but will probably get the advan neova AD08R. they should e really good and apparently also have grip n the wet. Mind you we don't get the rain you get inte uk over here. Anyone considered these? I got a quote from th uk delivered to Malta for all 4 for about 1100 euro. I was quoted 1000 euro for Fred's in Malta so that's not too bad. Michelin pss were about 1300

Kerstien, i have their predecessors the AD08's on my car in Cyprus. They're an amazing tire for our climate but as others mentioned they do wear very quickly indeed. Barely got a year out of my rear ones, not sure of the mileage but something in the region of 4-5 thousand miles. If you do a lot of mileage they're not the right tire but for an occasional fun car they're amazingly grippy and surprisingly driver friendly. I found that on track they break away in a more predictable manner than the Ultrac Sessanta's i had before. They're OK in the wet once a bit warm but i found that they don't like standing water or sleet at all!

I do about 4-5k a year but since we have very bad roads with little grip I doubt they will wear out so far. Over here you usually have to throw tyres away not because they're worn out but because they get old and hard! I'm really looking forward to trying them out

im about to cover another set of wheels, im torn between the Ad08R the toyo 888 or the msCups (these are my faves but the price is insane!!) will be going for 235/40/18 and a 265/35/18.

From what I read the ado8r are better than the 888. They should also be better in the wet. Are you buying a set of apex wheels beedub? I saw you asked about a set on zpost. I ally like the satin black ones but the ones I liked apparently don't fit with the v3 springs :(

ive got a few sets of wheels in storage at the moment, the car currently sits on CSLs, i have a track set that havent been used in a while, im going to clean them up and put them on, they are very agressive but work due to my extreme alignments.... are the ad08R a full 8mm T/D tyre or 5mm like the mpsCups/t888?

Beedub, they're the same tread design as the AD08s so an 8mm depth. I don't think they'll outperform a new set of Toyo R888's to be honest, even though they're a pretty old tire now but they should be close.

R888 are in my experience a fantastic tyre. Had them for years on the west fields, but a few tips for you if using them on track.

1) even in a sub 500Kg car they only really lasted 1 good track day.....cal it 200/300 miles, 2 if you were 9/10ths. the trade off was a smile so wide.
2) if wet on track, put them on backwards.
3) They do not like really low pressures even though that is what your past experience says....this will be personal but as you experiment to find your optimum, try a little higher than you first expected as a start

3) if on road, the westies chewed through a set in about 1500 miles. so not cheap.
4) they do not like cold and certainly do not like cold and being stood on concrete over say winter or long periods. take the wheels off.

Good luck.

ordered AD08R....

Went with nice and wide agressives sizes too with a thick sidewall loose some of that harsh ride!! Very excited to try these against my bench-mark PS Cups....

Ha! I think you may be disappointed mate! The AD08s are some of the harshest riding tires available! Don't think an extra couple of mm in sidewall will improve things greatly. Still, I'm really looking forward to the comparison with the Cups.
