Hi All

Anyone had problems with the cd autochanger, mines not reading the discs, (CHK Disc message)

Would the removal come from the boot?

Thanks

John

Changing the CD changer is a royal pain in the arse, the interior trim needs to be dismantled if I remember correctly. To be honest I'd forget it and put a iPod solution in. Intravee/Alpine, Dice, Dension etc

+ Try down powering.............. take the back boot lining out and pull the local fuses for the CD player in conjunction with ignition off and on. The system should reset.

Mine states no magazine, I pulled the main fuse and then the radio tried to find it but eventually came up with the same message again. No lights on the changer at all, and the magazine will not release, so I'd like to try the above - how do you get the lining out? Pull that string? Thanks.

There's a couple of black plastic grommets either side holding the base of the vertical section of boot carpet, you remove either side The string grommet allows the carpet to lift up so you can get your hand and see under. The grommets are a bit of a faff. I broke one

I didn't break mine :) pulled the fuse, replaced the fuse, CD made a noise, radio looked for CD's, found none, "no magazine" message again, and the magazine still won't come out - I give up  Who want's a choice of music anyway - I'd rather have the hood down and listen to the noise

Power it up and 'dunt' the magazine whilst pressing the green button Keep trying Use the handle end of a soft grip screw driver It will come out. Believe me.
Its happened about 3 times and I have always got it out one of the Cd's is jammed across.

mines stopped reading :( doesn't seem to load them when i put the magazine in, well it makes no noise anyway

"Green button" I understand :) "dunt the magazine" I don't :( please explain :? Thanks. Where does the soft grip screwdriver come into this?? :o

'Dunt' is another word for 'hit'
Soft handle screwdriver: handle is the right shape to get in and hit the magazine. End on.
The screw driver has some weight, does not damage the magazine but helps release the stuck CD carriage by shocking it. I could take a picture?

I suspect it will happen again but at least you now have the 'technique!'

I obviously haven't got the 'technique' or need a bigger sledgehammer as I'm b*ggered if mine will come out :(

Oh well, as previously posted, I'll just listen to the singing motor
