really soft leather / seat covers?

Hi guys! I bought myself a Z4MC in February and have been reading alot on here.

I just wondered if anyone was using any decent seat covers? I have champagne leather and although its a shame to cover it up, I find that my jeans are staining it and it seems to be showing signs of wear that i would not expect with a car less than 3 years old with less than 23k on the clock...

Cheers!

Craig

Welcome. But I don't think any of us here use seat covers in the zed. You better find the best leather cleaner/conditioner. This is why I always choose black leather interior.

Sorry to here this must be very annoying :(

My 2004 M.Sport black leather seats (on 21k ) are wearing really well they have hardly changed in appearance since i bought the car over two years ago it seems to be from reading on here that the lighter coloured seats seem to wear more.

I'm planning on either swapping my driver's seat out for an alcantara/suede Recaro, or retrimming the current one in the same.

I've got Walknappa Caramel extended leather in mine, which is a tad darker than the champaign, but I've got a yellow leather couch in my living room... same prob there... Washing your jeans a few times and then tumble-dry them before wearing them on light colored leathers helps a lot. Also try not to get in the car with wet jeans. There are leather polishes available that give some protection, but these tend to make the leather shiny, which would be fine for a couch with lacquered leather, but not for the Z4's seats.

A simple answer can be to not wear new jeans in the car, especially new cheap jeans. Take them off before getting in - wooohoooo.
SOme leather cleaner should get it out. I use the BMW stuff which is a cleaner/leather nourisher/protector all in one. No idea if it'll get stains out, but could be worth a try

This is one downside of the ///M's over standard Z4's, the leather is softer and seems to wear quicker from what I have been told/seen. :(

Same problem in my wifes 3 Coupe.

Try a 'magic sponge' from Aldi if you have ingrained dirt on light leather.

You will need to condition the leather afterwards.

Why would the leather be softer in the M than a standard Z4? It's not. They all have the same leather - it just depends what you spec. I have the softest leather option in mine, and it's not an M.

With regards to protecting the leather, all I would suggest is to be careful getting in and out to stop wear. The previous owner put (to me) a lot of wear on the driver's seat, but this hasn't increased since I bought the car 10,000 miles ago. When people see me getting in, they think I'm a freak, but it's worth it to not ruin the seat!

Personally, I wouldn't worry about wearing jeans or similar in the car, as it will come off easily with a wipe over with leather cleaner. Champagne naturally shows up more dirt, but it's never been hard for me to get it off.

baby wipes, i have always used them on cars with leather interior, found them very good

you're always going to get that problem with lighter coloured leather, that''s why a lot of people won't buy anything other than black leather despite the lighter colours sometimes looking better.

I have red leather in mine which is wearing very well and looks better than black (imo) 8)

///M's have Nappa Leather where as non ///M's have either Oregon or New England full Leather.

Put the two side by side and you can feel the difference.

I don't have an M, but I have individual nappa (very dark 'inky' blue). I think that the nappa leather, though more expensive is a bad choice for a car interior. :(

The leather seems to 'bag' and stretch more that the 'standard' thicker stuff. I've always regretted having nappa since my prior Zed (dream red full sports seats) faired much better.

Has anyone tried BMW regarding 'bagging leather' on seats?

Rgds.

I've got champagne nappa and thankfully haven't had any problems keeping it clean (all my jeans and naturally distressed and faded!) and it's not gone saggy either, but I'm only on 9k...
