Range after a fill...

I've had 366 after a fill when i first retrofitted cruise.. needless to say I didn't actually get that.

I think it is calculated over a few miles only as it seems to vary quite frequently depending on the type of driving (unlike the MPG one which can be a long term average depending on how infrequently you zero it). Even so I`ve done about 40 miles and it`s now showing 344 miles.

Mine is showing 1/4 tank left and 60 miles to empty, after 180 miles of town driving.

Can't seem to get more than 45 litres in though, even when the range is on zero.

Seems to be doing 26mpg average on 85mph+ longish runs and 22mpg round town - now that I'm putting it into 4th/5th/6th at every opportunity.

This is such a subjective/variable question so the thread which will never get the response you are looking for.

Question "What your range after a fill"
Depends on LOTS of things

In the end - we are driving Z4's - not cheap cars and im sure when you bought it you didnt have MPG on your wishlist - did you?
So why care now?

I would only be bothered if i started to get something crazy from my norm MPG like <200 from a tank when I usually get around 250-300. As that may indicate something is wrong/different to before!

It already has got the response I was looking for, and even if it meant who gets the least range (as we all thrash our /M's daily) to be comical, it's still interesting.

Plus, a couple of us with launch cars seemed to get lower mpg consistently, this was a relatively safe way of working out an average across other newer models.

I believe the Range is calculated on the usage of the previous 2 tank fulls, as the range only shot up to 350+ after a) resetting the throttle adapter on the same day as the cruise retrofit, and b) 2 tanks at 28+ mpg driving.

The only way I could see this thread becoming pointless is if people with different engines chime in with their results.

Remember only /Ms.. but I'm told from different sources that the launch cars had different ECU maps..

I'm not sure it's true, but there did seem a definite trend for a while.

i've just bought a z4mc last weekend - what a great car and i'm getting about 26mpg on sensible motorway drive. Not too bad, i had a light and relatively economical 2.0 vx220 turbo before and theres not much in the thirst depending on what mood your driving is in.

I have just done a search into the Z4M fuel consumption and this thread has come up so rather than start a new one i'll add my Q into here.
Having read this post I'd take the average Z4M range as circa 250 miles. How does this compare with the 3.0si?

thanks

I'd say the average miles between fills is about 250 miles, but that still leaves 2 gallons in the tank. My displayed range after fill starts at about 310 miles.

lol i know this is slightly reviving a dead thread, but Andy pointed us here!

i must get the worst fuel economy ever - probably no morethan 300 KM's a tank.... i do a lot of city driving (15/20km's each way) to work and back, and i give it a rev where i can (on/off freeways etc) but still - maybe i should get it checked out lol..... im averaging 16ltrs to the 100km.

300kms/186 miles is not far off what I see so you're not unique. It's all down to type of driving and driving style.

Well Andy, my ///M Coupe is getting around 310-320 to the tank averaging 30ish MPG

So you must drive like a jessie and only ever downhill I would assume :o (just kidding)

I get about 250 miles per tank. Driving hard at any (legal) available occasion

If i do motorway only driving (with under 10% town driving) then the most i have ever got in my si is 380 miles - the fuel light was on... but the range still said i had 30+ miles - i was quite tempted to push it to over 400.. but then didnt want to risk running out!

On average with 50% town and 50% A road driving i tend to average around 300 miles to a tank... but that is with a lot of short under 10 mile journeys.

Maybe, but if I drive any faster all my Nicky Clarke products fly around the boot
