Rain sensor retrofit

Had this on a few cars now, can't see the point, never seems to work when I need it. Prefer to work it myself.

I suspect that you'll find a load more info if you search for people doing this on the E46 - it's the same electrical system (for the most part), so if you can find guides there, they should explain the logic, even if you need a few different parts for the Z4 platform.

However... I think they used a different windscreen on the sensor equipped cars, so if you wanna go to that length, is up to you...

Works perfectly on mine, as it did on my Focus before. I’d not really consider another car that didn’t have it, same as auto lights.

Is there any Z4 comes without rain sensor?

If you have changed the window, this is how you reattach the bracket to the window. The gap between the gap and the bracket have to be no air bubble for rain sensor to work perfectly.

Yes. Many.
Here is the wiring of RLS, I think coding VO might be needed. If it is pre wired it would be easy to retrofit

If not, refer to this E46 article

Thanks. I have it on a couple of other vehicles and it's great. Will read up but it does seem more trouble than it's worth for a weekender

I have two sensors that can reliably detect when there is rain on the windscreen. When my wife is in the car with me, we automatically have four sensors...
Digital actuation of the wiper switch then operates.
Ahem... sorry....

Indeed. I am just spoiled by the other cars. I find rain sensors useful, not when it's properly raining but when it's off and on. Then I am either dragging the wipers over a dry screen or turning the dam things on and off every few minutes.
