radio volume knob replacement

I just purchased a 2003 Z4 for my wife. She just loves it, and thinks I'm the best.
However, the radio volume control knob was not working. I did some searching and didn't find anything specific to the Z4,
so maybe this isn't a common problem? In any case, I took the radio apart and there is a little circuit board with the volume control knob.
I tried to find a part number, but not luck, but found the manufacturer name, and then scoured its catalog to find a picture that matched.
No luck there, but I did determine it is a digital control, and guessed it was an EC11 model, and found some on ebay that looked the same,
so ordered them and then I replaced the control on the circuit board, put it all back together, and now the radio volume works great.

Here is the ebay item, if it is no longer valid, just search for the same thing and hopefully you will find it. The adjustment rod is a little longer than the factory one, I didn't bother to cut it down about a 1/4 inch, it doesn't look 'perfect', but nobody would notice the knobs sticks out a little more than factory unless you told them..

Now it is on to fixing the cup holders, might do another post for that if my search doesn't find the answers.

Very nice. Mine works but you have to spin it a good amount more than normal.

You could have just replaced the radio? they often come up very cheap..10-20 quid ive seen then on here, probably a lot less faff but well done on finding a solution

If you have to spin it alot, it is wearing out, they send on/off pulses as they turn, so some must be missing.
Also note the on/off push button is a momentary switch. So the radio has a cpu doing all the work.
These will wear out more as time goes on, I had to buy 5 of them, one is too cheap to ship, buying a whole other used radio would
cost more to ship, and the knob would be well worn too.
It would be great to have bluetooth, but I much prefer oriiginal radios over aftermarket.

Add Bluetooth to the standard radio using a GROM audio kit
