Racechip GTS

Has anyone here installed a racechip GTS into a 20i? (Or any other variant). I’m thinking about it…wondered what other’s opinions and thoughts are.

Never used one, warranty issues would be my concern. AFAIK it leaves a footprint even if reverted back to stock or even removed. When plugged into main dealer, ecu map numbers don’t match and lights their system up like a Xmas tree and warranty voided.

I’m no expert but all my understanding

Thats about it. The logging will show up the differences in the boost and the flashing of the ECU will increment a count and parity that will not match the count held by BMW. So in short, bye bye drive train warranty.

Looked at them also as decent gains with little outlay. Would not do it whilst under warranty, however they do offer a 1 or 2 year warranty depending on the product.

ECU is not flashed when using a tuning box :tumbleweed:

Other considerations still valid..IMHO

OK, to clarify my lazy English.

Either you have bogus boost values if you are conning the ECU with a tuning box - which is a dead give away you've strapped on a tuning box, or there will be a mismatch with BMW's held figures and whats on the ECU (even if you return the ECU map to stock) if you go down the flashing the ECU route.
