Questions on my Zed

Hi all,

Not sure if I'm posting in the right place, so please point me in the right place if this is the wrong place.

I have a "few" questions on my Z4 I recently purchased...

1. My passenger window doesn't automatically go up. Is this the same for all? The switch seems to indicate it will with a two click.

2. How do you make the roof and window go down and up off the key. Seen some with this option and wonder.

3. The roof is working fine at the moment but i noticed the other day once the motor cuts off you can hear the motor clicking as it slows down. Is this something i should worry about?

4. The roof lining on the inside seems to sag a little on both sides. The pics show whatnot looks like and what I think it looks like

And last but not least number 5.

The clip at the top of the rear centre console will not full retract to it's normal position (see pic). I cleared something metal that seemed to stop it, but still doesn't go all the way up. How do you fix or replace.

It's amazing what you miss out when you buy a car and when you clean it for the first time!

Oh and it's a 2003 soft top, if that helps.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

hey mate

1. Passenger window doesn't come with auto-up. you need to get the dealers to add that feature for you.
2. Roof open/close with key. That didn't come with the 03 model, so you need to buy an aftermarket part to do that. If you search Gaptech OTH (one touch hood) module you will find it, Works great iv'e got one on an 03 Z4 like yours.

as for the roof - never had any issues so cant help you there... im sure others may have an idea tho

i thought this just needed the windows to be reset? im assuming they meant after they open/close the door, going up the extra few mm?

The lining on the inside of my roof sags a little on the passenger side too.

Mine is a 54 plate, so it is perhaps an age thing?

After a closer inspection I found there's some torque screws either side of the roof and the metal pole that goes along lining had grooves to slide between the grooves. I haven't had chance to attempt to fix, but will have a go when get home this evening.

No Liam, just in general. The passenger window goes fully down but not up, at any given moment. Strange that you have to get this feature enabled though?

Sorted the roof, had to lower the roof to get access to the screw but got it in the end. Pic below shows the screw and rod that it attaches to.

Recommend you have short torque screw drivers, as it is a little tight.

It is annoying, I haven't got it done yet. The reason is some BS about safety and not accidentally jamming your passenger in the closing window. I figure I'll get it done next time I have to go to the dealer for something. Everything else in my car is one touch except that window :headbang:

Well my engine management light has come on, which is annoying as I haven't even had it a week. Started miss firing so I switched it off and on again and it's seems ok only light is still on and it doesn't sound right. Revs ok, but idle doesn't sound right. Will get window looked at whilst I'm at it.

Can't speak for older vehicles but auto up and down on BOTH windows is standard on facelift cars.

passenger one-touch up became standard in MY 2005+ Z4's.

I'm not sure if it just needs to be programmed to be enabled, or a new computer is required for one touch up.
