Quad spots, how I did it.

Been wanting to do this for a while but was never quite sure how it would look, However after a recent visit from RichardG we tried his lights on my car and I could then see how they would look (Cheers Richard  ).

So I set about looking for some or indeed some all clears I could mod, Luckily around about that time Peddy was selling some all clears which i put a bid in for (Cheers Peddy  ).

Ordered up the Tint and Laquer from Flea bay, together they came to less than £10 including postage, Laquer arrived the following day but had to wait over a week for the Tint to arrive, By this time I had already got the lights masked off and ready for the imminent tint arrival.
Biggest problem I faced was how to mask off the indicator spots as they are not round but oval shaped, I noticed a few people had tried different methods but I thought the way I did it was quick and precise.

Step 1,
Using a free flow ink pen I drew around the spots then Using wide masking tape I put 2 stips across the spot with them meeting roughly in the middle, and drew some lines across them so I could make sure they met up correctly when reapplied, The ink instantly marked the tape which removed any form of guess work' DSCF4768.jpg

Step 2
Remove one stip and cut out the required shape and then re-attach using your marks to align it back into the correct position.

Then do the same with the other strip

Step 3
Mask off the rest of the light. added a bit more across the tape join just to ensure no tint got through.

Step 4
Sprayed em up, 4 coats of tint brought it up to about the right shade and then applied 3 coats of laquer, left em to dry fully and removed all the tape

In this picture I have attached one of the lights Drivers side and tried them to ensure I was getting the right amount light and it looked the same level of brightness

Happy with the levels I then attached the passenger side

Then got Mrs Nosa to apply the brake. (note full circle brake lights, Cheers Mr G  )

Re-attached the french fries and really happy with the end results

My thanks to Both Richard and Pedram

I did this a while back but found a far easier solution. I bought some self adhesive transparent film for about £2 from hobbycraft. then basically stuck it over the light (larger so you can trim it) then trimmed it with a very sharp scalpel.

once sprayed the clean edge it gives is fantastic, then just peel.

simples !

I used the exact same method on mine with great results. I chose to go with single spots, i personally think they look 'cleaner' and less fussy but i think i'm the only person who has them. Also meant i had to rewiere the reversing light.

Did consider that method but the last time I used a scalpel I opened a vein

Looking good all you need now are your new wheels, any decisions yet?

My own plans have come to an abrupt end for the time being, thanks to a larger than expected tax bill :headbang:

I agree, they look better than quads, but I need that reverse light.

Born free and taxed to death especially on this Island :headbang: :headbang:

Ref the wheels, If (be positive.....when I get a job it is going to be a tough decision on the wheels, really can't make my mind up between the BBS and the VMR's. But looking at the costs I think the BBS will probably be the winner. £1,200 for the BBS and falken tyres against £1,500 for the Vmr's and falkens, if I go for the BBS I can also afford to get a set of winter tyres for my 103's and will be keeping the RFT's for if and when I sell the car but will more than likely burn them out on I track day I am planning next year or at ISLAY airport (if they ever get back to me)

What BBS wheels are 1200 quid? Are they 13" ?

Lights look sweet! But now comes the harder part of finding the other clears

these ones
When I add the set up I want and the tyres comes to around £1,200

Ref the other clears...Not sure I want to do the amber delete on the front, having seen a Maldives with clear headlights IMO on that colour it just doesn't look right, Thinking more along the lines of adding some smoke film over them instead.

If it help's make up your mind, I wouldn't put the 265 Falkens on the 9.5J VMR's as they offer zero rim protection, not that I'm saying you will kerb them, but hey sh1t happens. The Vred Sessanta's in the same sizes are a much better option in that respect and will be what I fit next, unless I fit even wider Falken rears until all 4 need doing.

Just food for thought .

The Tax man might just about leave me enough money to do this if you want to get together in the New year and do it.

I can't believe those are so cheap! CHs are about £1500 at least, and those look a newer design.

Buy them :D

Was thinking about the Vreds, Was gonna pick Zermattv's brains on Fife run as he is running Vreds at the moment, I know he likes them but was wanting to see them in the flesh.

Sounds like a plan for the headlights, weather permitting would be happy to take a run down to yours for day out with Mrs N unless we have Snow like last winter

 They are nice eh? I know they are not the Ben Hurs I liked but I don't think I could handle the slagging on Meets :tumbleweed:

You know I'll slag you anyway nosa! Like the rear lights, something I've been thinking about too but typically the bloke on ebay selling them from Germany doesn't seem to have any left.
