Promised photos

A little late with photos...sorry had some bad luck with the Z4,first I hit a pothole 2 days after painting the wheels, bending the rim, then after spending an entire weekend looking for new ones and 2 weeks or so receiving them, I hit a deer. Needless to say I fell into a deep depression, alcohol, drugs...over eating... But I feel much better now, the car is back in my hands with the new wheels(painted) brakes and lines. I tried to find a set of 108's but they are just too damned expensive. So here are some new photos, no pics of the damage...too painfull.
Cheers
Ingmar
P.S. A short while after hit the pothole the car slowly developed an odd "clunking" noise, not so much when going over bumps and such, but more when the entire body flexes, for instance, speed bumps and coming off steep driveways but she tracks true on the highway, if I didn't know better I would say the body is coming loose from the frame, anybody have any thoughts.

Like the alloys , not sure what shade you have currently but the grey centres win out for me
The clunking could be the front control arm bushes

Lovely looking Zed.

How was the deer?

Realy nice photo's, highlights work realy well in the last shot. 8)

Be mindful of the flash though, where reflective surfaces abide.

Sorry to hear about the start to your Zed ownership. - New wheels look good.

Hope you can begin to enjoy your Zed now and welcome to the Forum.

:driving:

Currently grey, they where black originally, looked good but a little to harsh for my taste

Front and rear as well as stainless brake lines, not to impressed with the improvement though(maybe expecting to much) might have to bleed them again

Really feel bad for the deer, didn't kill it outright, just caught the hind legs as I tried to thread myself between it and the car alongside me

Nice looking car... lovely colour, not seen that before. 8)
Took a long while to get used to, but I really like it now...in the right light that is.

I know what you mean. When I got mine it was really shiny and looked nice but a couple of days later the weather was different and it didn't look as good.
I personally think it looks best on an overcast day sooner than a sunny day.

Welcome to the forum - a journey with a happy ending.... Or more appropriately, a new beginning

I'd put a decent amount of money on the clunking being the strut braces - the nuts on either can loosen slightly and they make a clunk/creak noise as the body flexes over speed bumps and inclines. Even more noticeable going backwards and turning at the same time, off a sloped driveway for example. Try nipping them up at either end - there is a torque setting but I can't remember it. The ones on my old car took a quarter turn each, clunk gone.

Thank you for the info, you are exactly right regarding backing up will definitely look at the connections next. Strut braces are my next project, but am having a very hard time getting my head around the forces involved, ridged struts seem logical, but feel as if they would eventually rip the studs from the struts, ones that pivot at the strut seem like they defeat the purpose.

About the clunking noise...i had a similar issue and i got really worried. Turns out my hood was not properly closed. Try pushing down firmly on the corners near the headlights, see if there is any change...
