Welcome to the forum - a journey with a happy ending.... Or more appropriately, a new beginning

I'd put a decent amount of money on the clunking being the strut braces - the nuts on either can loosen slightly and they make a clunk/creak noise as the body flexes over speed bumps and inclines. Even more noticeable going backwards and turning at the same time, off a sloped driveway for example. Try nipping them up at either end - there is a torque setting but I can't remember it. The ones on my old car took a quarter turn each, clunk gone.
Thank you for the info, you are exactly right regarding backing up will definitely look at the connections next. Strut braces are my next project, but am having a very hard time getting my head around the forces involved, ridged struts seem logical, but feel as if they would eventually rip the studs from the struts, ones that pivot at the strut seem like they defeat the purpose.

I'd lay good money also on the strut braces, if not check the ARB droplinks followed be the control arm bushes - Thankfully all relativley cheap (Strut brace bolts being free) and easy to do  .

The wheels look the biz by the way - As does your Zed, Toledo blue is rare over here, don't know why, I really think it complements the cars lines.

Stu.
