Those offsets do sound aggressive!

Put some details in here to see how they compare to the OE wheels:- https://www.willtheyfit.com/

Thanks. Do you know what the offset is on the 108s?
Fronts are 8” ET47
Rears are 8.5” ET50

Yes, 108s are 8J ET47 fronts and 8.5J ET50 rears.

I fitted 18" E89 wheels to my second 3.0Si. They were 8J ET29 fronts and 8.5J ET40 rears and I didn't get any rubbing with those.

This is the link to the eBay page I bought them through:

I did query it and got this response

I will pop them on tomorrow and see. I can return within 30 days… thanks for all the feedback

I think you need a 265 tyre on the rears as they are 9.5J rims. 265/30 rears are what the CSL Reps on my MC had fitted when I bought it.

Just hope they fit OK.

The tyre will stick out (poke) 35.7mm further than the current tyre on the car.
I think that'll be too much Mark.
Try the fronts too. Of course you have to factor in turning the wheel too, with the outer one compressing the suspension at the same time.

18.4mm extra on the front. This should be ok as the wheel and tyre size on the front are identical to Project Jigsaw

I’d phone the company that that sold them to you BEFORE you do anything else.

Phone BM Autosport and say you’re looking to buy a set in those sizes for a 2.5Si and see what they say.

9.5J ET27 with 265’s - might even damage your arches, I’d say this was potentially dangerous

Fronts will fit fine but not with 235 tyres. They will rub the arch liners.
Rears with 265 will scrub.
This is from experience with those exact spec wheels and tyres.

What a roller coaster today has been, worrying about these wheels! I have had the full spectrum of feedback ranging from “dangerous” to “it will be absolutely fine” and everything in between! It is amazing how many different perspectives and experiences there are out there for things like this!

I did manage to get hold of a wheel ‘expert’ for advice, and he happens to own an E85 wearing the exact same spec wheels as the ones I bought! What a stroke of luck! After exchanging a few messages he reassured me that he had absolutely no problems with his. No rubbing at the rear or the front. He sent me a few pics to back this up.

So… I took the plunge and stuck them on and love them! They are a bit fatter on the rear than I would have preferred aesthetically, but not enough to put me off. One spirited drive later, giving it some beans on a few roundabouts and a few full lock turns in a car park, I can report that there was absolutely no issues. What a relief! I will check again tomorrow in case the suspension settles a bit more, but so far so excellent. Phew!

Thanks Martin. I have been worrying about it all day after all the very helpful feedback. If I had any hair I would be losing it!

‘Potentially’ dangerous I said.

I think taking a few roundabouts at pace is a bit different to the Nurburgring.

The face of your rear wheel is outside the arch, and it looks like the tire tread is borderline under from above.

Anyway, have been following the thread so best of luck

Yep, you did… someone else (not on here) stated dangerous, calling me stupid! The second bit was tongue in cheek though as it was a mate  I did think about the Nurburgring so will probably have to be careful there. The main thing for me was “normal” driving and I am relieved at what I saw today.

Really grateful for everyone’s feedback and support on this. Being a complete numpty and trusting what the vendor tells me was potentially a bit of an issue - I would probably choose a less aggressive set up if I did it again. I think I have managed to get away with it though which is a relief!
