Brad, I havent re-read the thread to find the exact date you gave, but are you still expecting the externals to be complete by around the 17th?

Looking forward to it.

Well once we fit the coilovers, which is tonight. We'll have all of the parts we need to finish the exterior so yes. It'll be a mad push of welding, filling, sanding & REPEAT for a good 30 more hours work. Then a spray job lasting all day from 8am-8pm allowing for coats to dry, then it's being rolled out and covered until the internal parts arrive and the electricals can be fitted. Not going OTT on the internals, just some slight colour matching and lighting additions to make the cabin more pleasant in line with the external alterations.

We're on schedule!

Don't suppose ur fitting an aftermarket extended leather interior? I want to know if it can be done!!

I think this is what Ranski might be doing as he was after a dash and centre console. I know the dash is normally standard though.

Either that or he is going to get it flocked I reckon.

Wow looks great so far.

Have to wonder how well will the wheel bearing hold up? Compared to the rest of this project cant be too hard to get a longer axle or get some 12j alloys with a low offset... Et 10ish!

Also calipers will looks miles away from the rims with that sort of spacer.

Longer axle moving the bearings outboard will reduce lever arm and hence load acting on the bearings but using wheels with a different offset to achieve the same track width is no different to fitting spacers as the distance between the rubber sat on the road and the bearings (ie the force x lever arm) will be the same.

75mm spacers will likely reduce the lifespan of the bearings but if the cars is not covering big miles then this may not be a major concern for the builder.

Ok so we hit a BIG milestone today! The coilovers were the LAST piece to the puzzle which FINALLY arrived! So we got to work fitting them. Just for anyones reference DO NOT attempt fitting coilovers onto a roadster... It's the most painful, longwinded GOD DAMN thing ever!!!!!!!!! I almost broke down at one point. The front coilovers where easy enough to install, BUT MY GOD.. the rear ones where a complete pain in the arse!!!! Not only do you have to completely dismantle the rear parcel shelf system but you need to pull about about a MILLION different stoppers all which are impossible to reach. It literally took two of us an hour to get everything in the boot out of the way without breaking it so that we could gain access to the rear shocks... but here goes!

This part of the build is called.... SLAMMING IT

Removing the rear securing nuts after an hour long battle of interior trim removal.

One more of me fiddling with the interior trim.

My brand spanking new front coilovers which will never look this new again. It's worth mentioning at this point we have yet to set the front coilovers to their absolute lowest point, we set them middle height just incase for our first run.

Fitted front coilovers with tyres.

After successfully fitting the fronts we got excited and set the rear coilovers to a low position... not it's lowest, this was about a 45mm drop, we can go to around 70mm.

A shot of the rear COMPLETELY slammed and with the rear wheels widened with spacers... phew... hows that for WIDE!

I'm not too sure what your plans are for the rear lights, but I personally think the facelifts with their horizontal LED strip would suit the exaggerated width of the rear

I think that this car is going to drive really badly! Thats an extremely wide track you got there :crazydude:

If your not extending the rear light cluster into the extended arch section that you have created, then i think the maximum you can have the light "inboard" of the vehicle is 400mm..

Not sure what your measurements are but Just something to take into consideration..
