Have you looked on "Your BMW gallery" you get a preview of your car.

Love this, I'm easily pleased haha! 😃

Now if it could just get here a week early so I can avoid the ridiculous tax hike I will be a very happy lady!

I wonder if the dealer would actually refund you the difference if it came early :idunno:

The first year road fund license on mine will be £3,300 :o

From Genius just now - 193: Arrived at port of exit - "Your BMW Z4 is at the Port and is being prepared for shipment to the UK. The current estimated delivery week is the week beginning is 10 March 2025, although this could still be subject to change."

The Dealer is collecting this on behalf of the Gov't so if, as I understand it, the invoice tax point, registration and supply date is on or before 31/03/2025 then the current lower rate will apply, on or after 01/04/2025 then the new higher rate will.

So if the Dealer has quoted you the higher rate for supply on or after 01/04/2025 and it is registered before you should pay the lower rate; unfortunately the converse applies to a car quoted for March delivery and registered in April so you'll have to cough up the extra 🤬.

More than happy to be corrected on this if I'm wrong!

[ref]PeterE[/ref], I don't think you are wrong, If your car is delayed during production into April 2025, you could probably argue against it, however if you delayed taking ownership I bet they'd be asking. If it's delivered earlier in March, I doubt that they would offer some cash back, unless you specifically ask for it, after all that saving is pure profit for them.

You pay the road fund tax applicable at the time of registration. This may well differ to the price quoted on your order form. The only exception to this would be where there is an increase, which is 1st April annually, and you have it in writing that the dealership will pick up this additional cost. This is of course is very significant this year due to our chancellor's thieving doubling of first years road tax on new cars registered on or after 01/04/25.

If you have the VIN number and the dealer can allocate a registration number, is it possible to register it before you/dealer actually takes physical delivery?

I`ve asked this already and the answer was no it needs to be in the country first.

Mine hit 153 a couple of day ago.

It’s a definate no. Asked my dealer for my incoming pork in order to try avoid the doubling of the first years road tax to £5,600 and they can't do it.

And in her mind, if you can afford the car that has a powerful engine, that isn't a PHEV, producing such high emissions you can afford the tax. And I bet you didn't think of the initial road fund license fee when you ordered the car.

Actually I did consider the initial road fund tax when I ordered the car as it was announced in the Autumn budget at the end of October. When I decided to change in the November, I fired off a raft of emails to the OPC's asking if anyone had a confirmed build slot for the car I wanted for Q1 2025 as I wanted to avoid the doubling of road tax. Came up trumps and my new pork should be available for delivery in March. Shame you are being hit with £3,300 :fuelfire:

I'm at 154 final assembly.

Dealer won't cover the tax increase, I knew about it before I ordered and it was definitely a consideration when trying to secure a Q1 build slot. We actually did two sets of numbers on that basis as we knew it was tight and could go either side. If it doesn't make it before the price hike my intention is just to pay it and not drag it into my finance agreement with me. I won't be happy about it but it is what it is!
