never had one... never felt the need for one, don't really know why but im getting an urge to put one on the zed, just a cheapo prefix one with my initials on it, stupid idea or not? better to put the money towards a wheel refurb maybe? who has one and why.... chip in too if you think they're daft  as id appreciate all opinions :) :driving:

I don't mind them but hard to justify spending a lot of money on one -- unless you have lots to waste I suppose

Me, the wife and boys have 5
Needless to say we like them .............started back in 1993 and just kept collecting as the boys got cars etc all a similar series

i have them on my cars

i would say don't get a car specific plate, get 1 thats is for you - your initials or something

As taz said get one that is not car specific. Mrs bought mine as an engagement present many moons ago.

I've got several. I like the way they personalise the car but also great for masking the true age of the car too.

....and I work in ANPR technology !!

I like mine because I inherited it, it was on my grandads car, then my dad's before he gave it to me, and it's only 4 digits so it looks cool on a small plate

I always wanted one but didn't have the right car.....Now I do...:D......and it's got my name on it....Yay!!!

I've got one on the the Z and one on the girlfriends car.
They are a waste of money, but if you understand that at the time its all ok.

And yes i would buy another if i had something to put it on. Its just a bit of fun.

Bought a works van a few years ago that came with the reg plate M14 DOG and have been quite taken back by just how many people have showed interest in the plate, now I'm due to sell the van I'm thinking of keeping the plate and transferring it onto my Zed.

Mine was a gift and I've had it on every car since.

As above I think initials etc are nice and a good way to make the car feel more like 'yours'

My kids have them. I've never got it myself so never had one. Wife wanted to get me JG08BMW for the Zed, when I bought it. I talked her out of it. :o I'd rather spend the money on Petrol and road tax. to keep her going through the winter. :D (The Zed not Mrs G)

My first car was a minivan reg 756 DOG - I was 18 and the year was 1966  Reckon if it's still around it would be worth a few quid now.

I bought my plate J3... direct from DVLA for £400 in 1991 - the letters are my initials so I can ( and have ) transferred many times over the years - probably gone up in value but I would never let it go - personalises the car and makes it ageless - no brainer in my view as long as you don't pay a fortune.

For the cost of retaining or transferring your " DOG" it would be well worth keeping it :D
