private plates

I just got my first private plate PH51PAW. A group of friends got me it for my 30th Birthday a couple of weeks ago pretty cool present I was rather surprised. PAW is my full initial it looks good on the car I'm very pleased with it.

It looks the same as every other mid 2001 car on the road, I just don't see the point?

Well considering it was a gift I'm still pleased with it.

I've got D5 E5 and E6 all with the same three letters!
A waste of money, probably, but they do look ok when get cars are parked together !

I get it :D :thumbsup: Nice friends :thumbsup: and if it's your full initials then it's individual to you whilst still remaining a bit stealthy (sometimes no bad thing :lol: )

Trying to get my head around the DVLA process - would appreciate it if somebody could clarify. :)

I need to remove an existing personalised plate and retain it for someone else (another forum member). Then I've bought the entitlement to my own reg (I have a V750), for which I need to get plates made and then put them on my the car.

The issue is that there doesn't seem to be an option on the "take a reg off a car" form (V317) for putting your own plate on. Which means the car is likely to get assigned some random reg first before I can put mine on. Is that right? :?

Yeah I think thats the way it works. Your car will be reassigned the original number plate, and then you have to assign your new one.

You need to send in TWO V317's, one to retain your existing number, and one to assign the new number, and yes, they will charge you two lots of £80, even though it is no more work for them..

Mike

Thanks both. It's annoying because on the V317 guidance says...

The vehicle in section 3 will have its current vehicle registration number withdrawn (even if it is a personalised registration number), unless you also apply to transfer or retain it when you make this application.

...but there's no way to do this within a single form. :x

I got one from my Mum for my 40th birthday. my initials are PGL, so it's S10 PGL, aka slow PGL, I was trying for irony when it was on an M3 :driving:
