I Got N4LLY for £ 250 :D

I had to then go and buy a new car to put the reg on  As i could not put a new registration plate on an older car :D

(A BMW 120i Sport)

I would of though this would of been ok to be put on a car registered 1995 or newer.

I got the plate in 1996  (Oh and it was 318 Ti i put on, went on 120i later)

OP may find this thread of interest.
A Similar plate has been offered on here for quite some time with no takers

Umm, not sold at £600 which kind of confirms the opinions posted. I actually left the last plate I had on the car, advertising it with a "plate valued at £1200" helped to tempt a buyer, in reality it would have fetched less than £300 after fees.

Why would you want to disguise the age of an old car?!?
Get a personal plate bcos YOU like it...think it looks cool

Because a lot of people are fickle over such things and will look down at someone driving a 20 year old car. Or some won't even realise it is a 20 year old car.

I have been asked several times now how old my car is and people are shocked when I tell them.

I have a private plate. It is however a dateless plate.

The plate OP is selling is a dated plate and IMO it's crap. I'll explain why.

He says it's of value because the 24 looks like Z4. Okay I can see that. However it looks nothing like Z4 when you stick a P in front of it. Regardless of if your name is Phillip.

P24 BMW strikes me as just BMW and the P24 may hold some relevance but tbh if it takes longer than half a second to work out then the plate doesn't work.

I own 2 dateless plates.

My plates both have letters and numbers completely separate.

So the plate on my Z4 is XXX YY where X represents a letter and Y represents a number.

Now if it had been in the same format I would have said that's an amazing plate the best plate you can buy for a Z4. Now what do I mean by that?

BMW 24
24 BMW

See the difference now a dateless plate makes?

Removing just the P males a massive difference to it's price and the look. Numbers and letters seperate.

My other car with a dateless plate is 6 digits so XXX YYY again letters and numbers seperate and again it spells something that's easy to read with nothing extra about it.

As an example BMW 240 would look good on a BMW 240i.

P24 BMW is worth the same amount as a private dated plate we received for free on our other car because it was worth nothing for previous owner to sell it privately.

Our other car came with M13 FED on it which we promptly replaced with our dateless plate. My best guess is his name was Milfred. As you can see it means nothing in reality just like P24 BMW. Had this plate simply been 24 BMW then I would say it has worth and not a lot more than what you are currently asking either.

Personally I would list your plate for £300-£500 on regtransfers if you really want to sell it.

Owning 2 dateless plates for over a decade private plates is something I researched a lot and ended up at the time spending more than your asking for perspective. However dateless plates are rare and stand out from the crowd.

Don't confuse dateless with Irish which has 4 numbers. Dateless UK plates will have either 1,2 or 3 numbers with no letters beside them.

Don’t hold back, tell him straight 😂

I think it's best to cut to the chase when someone is asking £2k for a worthless plate. It's the same reason how I ended up inheriting M13 FED which I then ended up replacing the that plate was sent back for the DVLA to deal with.

The plate is worth nothing. Unless the initial P and number 24 are of meaning to a BMW enthusiast.

P24 looks nothing like Z4. It's trying too hard to find value and that's the opposite of a valuable plate.

You could go into the realms of what people usually do which is illegal and use spacing. P 24 BMW. That however should fail it's MOT and if pulled over should be confiscated but police usually don't bother.

The DVLA wants £1299 (fixed price, not auction) for K23 BMW, which is stronger than I expected. That includes the £80 assignment fee.

I'm following the logic for if you happen to have a Z3

I think if you say Kay Twenty Three out loud it sounds like Katie.

Pulling at strings with that one as well though. K8 BMW would be better I imagine.

Holy thread revival. Interesting to note in this forum how often FS threads get spammed by people who have no interest in buying.

It's not always just to hide the age. When I put mine on the car it made it feel more like it WAS my car.

[ref]Number5[/ref], I edited the advert and mentioned the reduction in the comments to draw attention to the reduction. The reduced price is £1300.
