I'm selling my private personalised registration number plate P24 BMW. Ideal for any BMW but particularly the Z4 I think as the 24 looks just like Z4.

The registration is on a retention certificate.

£1160

Think you might need to knock about £1500 off that price but I wish you luck!
Given the price that the previous owner bought it directly off DVLA for six years ago (I have the receipt and documents) and the prices that DVLA are advertising for similar, though less interesting plates I think that it's pretty much spot on.

There's been a bmw plate floating about on here for £1500 for years..still unsold despite listing it on most bmw forums, its not that its undesirable just that most folk want a plate personal to them and not the car that way they can take it with them when they change marques..you just have a vastly smaller audience with this plate so asking a premium price is always going to be a tough sale ..glwts

A good plate I bought direct from DVLA about 15 years ago is still worth less on the open market! I know from buying/selling other plates that re-sale brokers deliberately inflate estimates to get your business, most plates sit on file for years and only sell once a low offer is received. I doubt that you will get even 50% of the ask, but I do wish you well with it

Thanks for the info [ref]mr.tourette[/ref], [ref]Ewazix[/ref]. It'll be interesting to see what it goes for and when. I've never bought or sold a private plate before, just going off the original buyer's paperwork and what DVLA are pricing very similar but less interesting registrations for e.g. P22 BMW. Agree 100% that it's a very personal thing when it comes down to it.

J24BMW is available for £1299.00 from DVLA.

You might find a Z4 owner called Paul who simply has to have P24BMW and will pay big bucks for it - good luck, but don't hold your breath...

Horses for courses I guess! I think branded plates are naff (I guess you do too hence the sale hah) and I don't think I'm alone, plus no good to transfer between cars so they're a tough sell. Fair play if you get anywhere near 4 figures, no harm in asking!

My car came with a private plate very similar - **04BMW

Private plates are lame as hell. Unfortunately I guess that makes me a part of the problem :x

I would say that ‘lame as hell’ is a bit harsh. I recognise that disguising the age of a timelessly shaped car has a value.

The problem with the Z4 is that it’s still in limbo. Too young to be a classic, despite its promise.

So the reg does age it somewhat.

😂 The reg doesn't age it at all - the age ages it.

If it makes you feel better that you are 'disguising the age' then hats off to you but like I said, that's just really, really lame. Disguising the age to who? Nobody gives a hoot!

It's personal preference, like most things in life.
To call something lame because you personally don't like it, is just, well lame really.

I Got N4LLY for £ 250 :D

I had to then go and buy a new car to put the reg on  As i could not put a new registration plate on an older car :D

I would of though this would of been ok to be put on a car registered 1995 or newer.
