+1 on the laser!
Personally, I have 2 HP2550 colour lasers in the shops, for which I paid £10.25 and £17 odd fo respectively, around 4 years ago from Ebay
I use them both daily, and have just replaced all of the toners in one of them, with genuine, new HP ones at a total cost of just under £100, again from Ebay. Photo quality isn't up there with a good inkjet, but they are perfectly acceptable for use in school homework and the likes.
When purchased, they both had nearly new toners in them, and the drums were about 15% used, now about 25%
I do love a bargain, and these are one of my best!
If you don't mind collecting, Ebay has some right bargains to be had. I find that the likes of these attract very few bids.
Have had no end of problems with inkjet printer, mainly HP and Epsom. As said, they do not like being left, and on top of that the "head cleaning" that they then go through wastes stupid amounts of what apparently is, the most expensive liquid on the planet. I read somewhere that per mg, it's more expensive than gold!
