Nothing wrong with black wheels on the right car
I'm pretty much set on Shadow Chrome for mine. I've seen it on Sammyz's car and think it looks awesome.

Are you sure your not being swayed by other peoples opinions here?
I wouldn't swap the wheels for a different set of wheels just because a few others said they don't like the colour, why not just change the colour, the wheels are still nice and it's got to be cheaper than buying a new set?
Other peoples opinions are always going to be different.
I'd leave them for a couple of months and then if your not happy get the colour changed, (can recommend ford magnum grey)
!As the wheels are I'd say they would be worth around £400, but I would keep them rather than buy another set.
Btw car is stunning, wish I could afford to the mods you've done.

Shadow Chrome is another one looks great when clean, dull when not. I think it takes the OEM look away from the car.
I was set on shadow chrome then when I went to look at it on the wheel it didn't look right, looks good with a thicker spoke like the 224s, CSLs look pants in Shadow chrome. Sammys car does look awesome!
Gunmetal grey is a nice colour.

I think you misunderstood what i meant. I have nothing against black wheels, i just think on a z4 they make it lose its classy look. No doubt alot of cars look great with black rims just not the z4 in my opinion. Heres my fn2 as proof i do like black wheels 
How did they corrode Jonny? Was it the fact that they had a clear coat witch failed? I have polished wheels on mine painted in the spokes and polished face. I have no clear coat on the polished face. I keep them fairly clean although i did leave the car for about 2 months with salt and road grime all over them 
Washed them off and gave them a quick polish and the look ok again. I would say if you want that diamond turned look get them polished inserted on the face.
Bu the nature of turning/ cutting the face you will have machining lines so they will be harder to keep looking tip top without clear coat. Thats not really a problem if they have been polished. I would sugest you keep the wheels as they are see if they grow on you. If not see how much it would be to get the faces turned and then polished.

Could that be done Tom? Say a 2 tone powder coat? Black in the spokes and a shine silver on the face? That would be the way to go if its possible?
Personally I've yet to see a Z4 with black wheels that doesn't look tacky, but that's just me. A car is a very individual thing,what works for some, might not for others.
JE, I vote you just go with what you think looks best, and don't let other people's tastes on wheel colour affect your decision.

Ye theres no reason why not. 2 tone might be slightly more as the wheel will need masking.
Lots of people had their E46 M3 wheels powder coated instead of polished as they corrode and can only be refurbed so many times?? Its inevitable so a lot get them powder coated instead.

Ok cool thanks for the info that might be an option if i get bored of polishing mine.

Powder coating is the way to go, my van's Black wheels have gone through three winters and still look new. Same with my Jag black chrome, two winters and fine.
