Personally i dont think black wheels suit the z4 in any format, just not classy enough for a bmw sports car. I would suggest hyper silver or a smoked chrome maybe but black is just too..... street.

Mate, black wheels are on all forms of Sports cars, especially race cars; F1, Le mans, Rally etc etc. Thats where the idea come from.

You're writing off black just because its a BMW sports car? As with any design, you have to make sure colours won't clash, black wheels tend to work with a light body colour, or matching black. When it comes to Red for example, black tends not to work as its two base colours, thats when you head for an anthracite (or metallic red body).

You need a keen design eye to get the colour combo right, and has absolutely nothing to do with what vehicle type it is.... yes I can say this as a trained car designer (in my past!). Also hence why certain manufactures won't let you configure certain colour combos from new as they don't want their cars looking stupid on the road.

Jonny I know a guy who can powder coat the faces in essex. He's very good indeed and in basildon or somewhere similar.

So five pages in and no pics.
I was busy watching reruns of Heartbeat and Bullseye last night so missed this thread. :)

:worthless:

The 313s are cool wheels and look great on the z4r, what about refurb in metallic brown/dark gold - er bronze, still dark but has warm tint to go with the red roof...

Look forward to it. As stated I am a fan of black alloys / anthracite so should be interesting to see how they look :)

Do you want til the lights are re-sealed before I take some pics Jonny? If not, I thought an evening shoot in Bluewater with all the lights and what not could be quite nice?

Jonny, couple of things to suggest if I may which may help you appreciate the black more.

1. Get black wheel weights or carefully paint the ones on the wheels.
2. Try some silver wheel bolts - gives a good contrast.
3. Try some different center caps which aren't all black to help break it up a bit.

Personally I think its going to look good once I see a bit more, looking forward to the big reveal...

Oem ones will add a little more contrast, as you know I'm all about contrast ;) £40 for a full set

Also went for anthracite. Didn't like the usual silver, and thought black didn't work too well.

I like that, I might get my silver set done in that colour when they need doing :-)

Very nice, I'm thinking of getting my 224's done anthracite or satin platinum.

I'm hoping that your roof isn't as pink as it appears on my screen. :o

You might get away with polishing the rims, stainless centre caps and perhaps some shiny new bolts.

If you want genuine wheel badges at a slightly lower price than the £40 bmw want then I can recommend this seller on eBay.

Not sure what others he has but it would be worth checking.

I used him a while ago and it all went absolutely fine. In fact, I'll be buying some from him as soon as I decide on which version to buy

Come on guys give him a break.

JE always said he wanted a unique car.

There cant be that many Z4's around with a salmon coloured roof.
